Crikey you boys beens to church this morning or somethingLOL

You wouldn't have approved of 85.14 in a 60 then eh? That was £200 and 3 pts.
Drop back down to 6 pts in Dec so not to worry.

No, completely different. Hit someone at 60, they're dead. Hit them at 85, also gonna die.

30s are 30s because they're full of pedestrians and kids, houses, parks or schools. Should not be going 40+ in those areas.

Sunday mornin mate , nobody about except me and the cops. Plus it's a dual lane single carriageway with a central reserve should be a 40 anyway.

If it was -above 60 then I could understand people thinking ' not cool' bad man.

Cops weren't even p**sed off, so chill a bit .

Just means I need to behave myself next weekend so I can pay the dough.

Always makes me laugh when people say the shouldn't be speeding horse turd when on a daily basis everyone does it!

And half of these either smoke at the wheel, text or even facebook. I drive along in my work van at 8am every morning, looking down on short skirts, cleavage and mostly people texting or facebooking!

I would rather my kids walk down a road with someone doing 40+ as the driver is looking at the road not the speedo! Doing 30 in a gti6 is a tough job without looking at the speedo!

Some days we get caught but I would never complain because yes we all speed!

Just saying, I don't think that's any excuse. It's not your place to decide when are where the limit should be what.

I like how you make out a 15-year-old French s**tbox is like some kind of beast to control, my Astra diesel is quicker.

I'm not saying I don't speed, I'm just saying I don't speed in 30s, not by that much. Maybe the odd few when not looking at the speedo, but 15mph over the limit is pushing it.

Actually I was driving my econetic 1.6 diesel mondeo. It's got 5 stars so the pedestrian should have been fine. Low emissions would have been kind to the local hedgerow ecosystem too.

I live in a narrow street and if I can't get to 40 by the bottom of it everyday I feel a sense of failure.

Also Owain you know an Astra isn't quicker than a 6.

Not that it's exactly relevant to this thread, but Parkers says 8.3s 0-60 for the Astra, and 8.5s for my GTI-6, fifteen years ago.

The Astra speed was based on being dropped from a high height, the 6 was 4 people with a full tank after a heavy

haha, I love it.

"it was Sunday morning, I know categorically, 100%... I even have it writing, that there was NOBODY around, AT ALL! AND I was allowed to completely disregard the speed limit, 'cos it only applies when there are pedestrians and that"

It would really interest me to know how long a person has been driving and their age when giving excuses about when it is okay to speed in certain areas.

I think from a fixed camera they have to be with you within 2 weeks so I read up when I got done, I was waiting almost 2 months. I got done by a policeman on the side of the road and was going slightly too fast to give out a fixed penalty so I had to wait for the court.

I gave the excuse to the judge that it was 11 o'clock on a Sunday night on a industrial estate and there was no other cars or pedestrians or parked cars on the road except for this one police man with his speed camera who heard me pull out of the junction. I kept my licence anyway. Just have to be careful now
