Shame about the silly xsi backbox but it's brand new so it will probably stay for now.

Sadly that's the stock OE exhaust now as they discontinued the silver tipped GTi one a while ago.

Just to rub it in this was the last but one OE one available in the country from Pug.

Aw. Sad

I have the original crusty backbox, I considered robbing the tailpipe off it and doing a bit of a pikey cut-n-shut. But it's a lot of work for something I can't see, and as such I can't really be arsed.

It's on its way out somewhere round the middle behind the cat where I bodged it with a random scrap of ally, two jubilee clips liberated from someone else's toolbox and a tube of exhaust paste... might be Powerflow time soon.

Nice first post, welcome to the club.

Sounds like you got a bargain 6, can't complain for that money and the beemer looks lovely too Love

A lot of people have moved on from the '6' but still hang around, and the knowledge here is second to none. It's nice to see new member with their heads screwed on after the endless influx of the chav brigade.

Enjoy those trackdays!

This was my mates car when it had L11WMS as the number, he bought it in 2008 with about 68k on the clock and sold it at the beginning of the year (with 143k on clock) for a Alfa 147 Ducati Edition.

This was very well looked after. Mate only lost heart with it in the end when a scum bag bent the drivers door back in an attempt to break in. Just before he sold it to Carl it had a fully rebuilt rear beam/ mounts, new shocks allround, new eibach front springs and 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport tyres.

Before that it'd had refurbed alloys/ callipers and head gasket done.

He still misses the car!

I think the rear wiper relay was removed as the wiper had a mind of it's own and would randomly come on.

Sounds like you've got yourself a bargain there, enjoy mate!!

Car looks well, and at least it's got plenty of history.

Thanks! I'm currently a lowlife student studying for a masters in automotive engineering at Loughborough. I have a bit of a passion for motorsport but it doesn't pay too well... not sure what I'll end up doing to be honest. Not sure if a five year degree straight after school was the right idea either but I'm stuck with it now!

I haven't contributed anything to the forum yet but I've certainly absorbed some of the knowledge, it's clearly a brilliant resource. I'm not sure about having my head screwed on but I know which end of a spanner to use and how to brake in a straight line... LOL I am a chav now I've bought this!

Ah, interesting stuff. So does that mean Carl has sold it twice?

Shame about the door, it's sad that people feel the need. To be honest it doesn't bother me too much but it would have if it had been my car at the time. I can see why your mate would miss it too, like I said before it's a testament to its former keepers. Really refreshing to buy a car that's clearly been loved.

Thanks and hello to everyone else too, think I'm going to enjoy my stay.

Well you're allowed to ask! Smile Would be fun to work on then, I sometimes thought a backup career as a pilot might be interesting... fits in with the 1980s 5 series image I think.

Ah, it seems news spreads... You need to get down there, these things are little undiscovered goldmines! Although I guess from your name you've had Pugs before?

Yeah... sometimes I park across four spaces. On the cross in the middle, you know? Just so people can be 100% sure I'm a twat. Whistle Hey, it stops people opening their doors onto it! LOL

Which reminds me, four days in to Six ownership, some fat bird opened her battered Zafira against the middle of the drivers' door skin and leant on it. Sad Cue massive crease. Stupid bint.

I returned the favour. Just need a new door now...
