Thinking about this set?
Also, would an '04 Leon use Metric or Imperial? being 'German' I'd assume metric so could I get away with only getting a metric set?

Any recommendations? Something I can use to change simple stuff myself on the new leon which also has Torx in a lot of places so ideally something that either has Torx or I can buy a set of Torx to go with it.Thinking about this set? I know it's a bit more than £40, but if you can get the 150 piece set when they have it on offer at £99 you will not regret it.It contains pretty much everything you will need for your driveway diy sessions. I know a few people on here have them, myself included, and they are great. It also comes with a lifetime warranty. In fact it is on offer at the moment, here. Worth considering if you're serious about doing a few bits yourself. |

Car needs a front spring and possibly two new tyres in the next few months and the £40 is coming from vouchers from a work bonus so won't be stretching to £99 any time soon! |

It's always adviseable to spend the most you can afford on tools as the more you the pay the likelihood is they will last longer and be better quality. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Back on topic, yes the £99 tool kit is handy but i've had it two years, and two of the three ratchets are f**ked. The warranty only covers the materials the tools are made from. If a ratchet goes they don't cover the mechanism. Also the Halfords "professional" 2.5tonne speedy lift jack I had for 12 months packed in. Apparently there was no such warranty against it and they didn't have the seals needed to repair it.Waste of time, avoid imo. ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

If a ratchet goes they don't cover the mechanism. Rachet mechanisms are a consumable item in all fairness. While Snap On may replace them - you pay for that service in your purchase price. Halfords sell the reachet mechanisms for a few quid. Very simple to change over. Snap a socket or anything and it's replaced without quibble. I think many will agree - for the average DIY user Halfords advanced tools are very, very good for the money with the added convenience of being able to stop by of an evening for a straight swap over of broken items. The one thing that could do with improving is the little red box of torx and screwdriver bits. I've broken a couple of those in the past and they never have any in store to swap over. They have offered me the replacements of the particular sizes within sockets as a replacement which is a fair comment I suppose. ________________________________________ |

I've tried this many a time, but without a receipt for the toolbox (which i mislaid years ago) they don't bother.. My clip in the adapter has broken many a time, given up replacing it now so deal with juggling the torx bit in the head. Aside from the large ratchet locking up on me from time to time; followed by a whack on the concrete to solve that problem, i've not had many dramas. And i Luuuuurrrvvv the Ratchet spanners!! ________________________________________ Richies Project RallyeElectrical work carried out in Portsmouth jamiek_uk2000 wrote: - Top Tip!!!
