So as I had finished my project astra the wife and I decided to have a look for a new project. Spotted a black phase 2 gti-6 on eBay with a few things needing done to her. She had mot April tax end of oct . Unfortunately I was outbid at £310. Winning bidder didn't pay I was offered second chance but no longer had the £300 for her. Guy was willing to take £200. So off I went to pick her up. But uh oh she wouldn't start Sad so we walked away. We said we would be back in a few days if he put petrol in her and she started. He did that and she still wouldn't start. I really wanted this car, so offered him £150 as long as we could get her started. Took my mate along, popped in new spark plugs, some more petrol and boom she came to life!! YaySmile

I'll list what's wrong with her and some pics after

Rear discs and pads need doing. Because of this handbrake doesn't work and almost points at the ceiling and even then it needs left in gear to be sure.
Radiator Fans don't work. Not sure if it's fans or thermostat.
the aircon doesn't work
Front bumper is broken and needs replaced as in the picture. The grille is missing and it's cracked at the bottom and tied with sticky tape.
It only has one foglight
Wheels need refurbed badly as they lacquer has peeled and is almost rusty looking on all four.
It needs a service (oil, filter and plugs)
It has a rust patch above the rear drivers side wheel, about the size of the palm of my hand.
It leaks from the aerial
It's starting to knock from what I think is a front top suspension top mount.
The drivers seat Alcantara has split leaving a side plate size hole and another small one on the squab.
The central locking doesn't open the drivers door.
The rear wash doesn't squirt.
The rear wiper doesn't wipe
The dash lights sometimes don't come on when the headlights do until you give the top of the dash a smack.
The 'lights on buzzer' doesn't work
Both front arch liners are missing.
The drivers side front wheel is porous and lets the air out slowly.
The Pioneer stereo is pretty good but often loses radio signal an AM stations have a terrible buzz which I think is a bad earth somewhere. CD Player works great and plays MP3's and WMA audio copied onto CD.

'Christ!' you're thinking, are there any good points? Well, yeah, there are.

Cambelt isn't due for another 12-14k as it was done at 103,000 and it has 127k on it now. Receipt to confirm this also, as shown in the picture.
It had a new clutch and gearbox oil late last year. (receipt to confirm)
It has MOT until April next year
It's had loads of bits replaced including track rod ends, suspension mounts, front pads, new radiator, front left shock absorber, brake lines and probably more I can't think of now but I have receipts for it all.
It has two good front tyres (Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response 2) and a nearly new Hankook Ventus Evo 12 rear after a puncture. The other rear has an old Yokohama on it but it wasn't even an advisory at MOT. Also comes with a full size steel spare with a BRAND NEW Pirelli tyre on it.

Don't get me wrong, it's engine is still fantastic and still goes like the clappers but it's all the other stuff, all the cosmetic stuff that really lets the car down which is why it's up for sale with £100 reserve. it's a LOT of car for the money and i will be sad to see it go. The road tax is due at the end of October and this can be renewed AT EXTRA COST or the renewal form can also be included in the sale.

The above was from the eBay listing

All alloys needs refurb but the above one is the worst.

4 hours later, a toothbrush a several buckets of water this is how She looks Didn't polish yet, or hover, as gonna wait till I've removed interior so I can Hoover properly

The back window had to be degreased, used washing powder haha

This is what the worst alloy now looks like

Plans so far
Fixed the leaking ariel
Fix all the issues listed above
Full service
New rear beam - ordered just it be fitted
New interior - just needs fitted
Lowered at least 50mm
White cyclones
New bumper
Crystal headlights
Colour coded bump strips

What do you all think!

That 6 looks a mess? Who's was that? Still 150 quid for a car evn in that state is a steal, be good to see it back to a decent standard!
Keep up the good work Thumbs up

You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time

    How so?

Unless they washed it at the previous owners house...

That Rover is there in both shots before and after, on the same block paving.

I would say Sarah is Blonde and Nadine is the Brunette.

If I am looking to far in to this, please stop me now. The word wife did throw me I admit.
