Well I would have thought it would go like this on sound alone:Exposed cone > cone in aftermarket airbox> aftermarket panel in standard airbox >standard filter in standard airbox I have a K&N Air filter in the standard box and think it sounds pretty awesome. On WOT and Part throttle you can hear the air rushing through the filter. I wouldnt run a exposed cone myself due to the heat soak. IMO the ultimate solution would be to get a bmc to fit without removing the battery and utilising the air scoop, both for performance and sound. ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

Exposed gives the best sound, enclosed gives the best performance. All depends exactly what it is you're after really Tom... ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Think I'm going to try and get a BMC for the road car. I've got an open cone now and it's looking a bit tired!________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

I have an open simota cone on at the minute, it sounds great, gives a proper rolling bwarp, will be replacing it with Bmc cda though, to prevent heat soak________________________________________ team: Stealth |

I have a de resonated standard box with k&n panel filter. It's not as bwarpy as a cone but gave much better performance.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Aaron by de resonated to you mean the bit that pops of the side is gone?Mine is fallying off and WILL NOT go back at all without me dismantling it. I might do the same as you in that case. ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

Aaron has a very good setup there, as it has a good source of cold air so will give better performance. On my very first '6', I had an open K&N induction kit and the noise was lovely, but the heatsoak noticably robbed it of power. So it's a basic trade off of how you want the car to be, from a personal perspective I would want performance over noise if I couldn't have both. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

As above on mine, except mines got a Ram-Air cone in the standard airbox Works well, also I've modded the snorkel so air is now forced into the airbox The induction noise of a open cone does sound better, but I did notice a lack of throttle response/low down pull with a open cone on mine ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |
