My thermostat has a rubber ring around the circumference already (came in the box) so i dont need that , just need the Gasket for the elbow to housing ? whats the right part number for that ? is that the 048 ?

There isn't a separate gasket / O-ring for that.

The seal around the outer edge of the thermostat performs both functions. It seals the thermostat to the elbow and seals the elbow to the housing.

The part you were given, 1340 30, is not used on the GTi-6 / Rallye at all. It's for a different size of thermostat.

Cheers , that makes sense Smile shame its got a small leak , might have to get some sealant on it then . got loads of three bond so will use some of that .
