On my way through Devizes I see a 205 Dimma which I have been admiring each time I drive past but to my Horror today as I drove past at approx 17:25 I saw this sorry sight Sad...

I believe it was arson but I do not no the facts even though i was tempted to knock on the door and ask but I felt that was a bit rude and nosey to do so Blink Gutted for the owner. Was always kept clean.

Apologies for poor (phone) quality picture didn't have my DSLR with me and it was dodgie enough taking a sneaky photo with the phone let alone a camera.

Very good point Dave I knew that but when I did the title I forgot briefly as I remembered to spell it properly in the OP itself! LOL

I feel so bad for the owner mainly because I would love a 205 Dimma myself. I presume it was Arson due to the fact it is sat on the drive and asuming it was parked for a good few hours. My GF (who I was on the way to see) said she drove past this morning to see it in that state with the Police attending which doesn't necessarily point to arson as they surely would have attended due to it being a serious/suspicious fire of some kind I would have thought. I would like to think it was an electrical fault rather than mindless vandalism/Jealousy.

I'd say a fault of some kind,.
I'm sure he could have sold it for what ever he'll get out of the insurance
And would be a bit stupid to set fire to it infront of your own house!
There was a 6 owner here who's car spontaneously burst into flames on his drive
And took another car with it Sad

Well like you say I don't think the owner would have torched it. It is possible (although more i think about it I think it was a fault of some kind... Fuel pump?) some passer by may have set it alight on the way home from a night out in the early hours but the Police HQ is less than 100yds away so they would have to be a complete idiot to do so.

Gutted. Hopefully fully insured etc. Looks a total wreck.

It really sucks when people trash cars because they're jealous. I had our Jeep keyed when it was new (i hate the Jeep, but thats beside the point).

My old man had a bmw 3 series years ago, it got stolen and torched.

Some people need a major kick in the nuts!

Yes you're right but at least if it is as simple as them running a key down the side at least it can be fixed whereas if someone torches a car it is going to end up as scrap... I suppose the shell could be salvaged although it has probably suffered some sort of stress from the heat of the fire? Such a waste!

The Dimma kit is GRP, rear quarters will be shot. Front wings and bumper may be salvageable.

Front end was mostly unscaved so there are few parts worth saving including the wheels I should have thought.

Surely got to be arson? An electrical fault would almost always occur in the engine bay where the high current loads are. There's f**k all in the boot except the lights! Suppose it could have set fire to something else though. I reckon drive by arson, something chucked straight through the rear window.

think it's a bit beyond saving Sad
who knows whats been weakened by the fire keep his eyes open for another Dimma
transplant some of the good parts onto that,.. I bet that would be very disheartening to say the least!

The amount of heat created by a fire like that will almost certainly warp all the metal panels and chassis beyond further use unfortunately. I'd be gutted though, and definitely invest in a garage!
