He just rubs it down and uses a ceramic lacquer like he used on the rest of the car, its the kind of stuff they use on high end car's apposed to the normal stuff used on production cars, it costs more than the paint but is worth every penny

shame I wont make it to fcs again tho Sad

Im planning on doing something similar but will see how it comes out lol.

Would have been good to see this on track at FCS, What about pugfest a month later? Doubt youll be back in time t get it finished or are you not back till august?

Had an email from my friend today showing me what he has been up to over the weekend Smile

As you are all aware the carbon parts I got from nur were shocking and neded a lot of work to make them look good... well my mate has worked his magic again and after hours of rubbing down and doing his best to remove all the sharp edges this is what the bonnet, spoiler and grill look like Smile
He also sprayed the inside of the bonnet gloss black as it was kinda s**tty inside too

he also rubbed down the carbon kevlar slam panel and lacquered that and also painted the splitter in gloss black Smile

After doing all that he ran out of time to do the rest but im more than happy with what he has done Smile

Next will be the carbon tailgate, sorting out the front bumper which will be a massive task on its own then to paint it and the skirts!
He wont be doing the rear bumper while im out here as im going to get a diffuser made up and cut the bumper to match upto it

really cant wait to start work on it again, so much to do and no bloody time

That all looks lovely mate. I assume that bonnet is a outer skin of CF then just the standard metal frame?

No grp frame, the frame of the bonnet and boot were meant to be carbon but nur messed up again and decided to do them with grp... nothing but problems with that company just glad my mate was willing to sort out all the mistakes for very little money

Was that also the same company where the owner physically threatened a member on here when he questioned him about the quality of their work? Not heard good things about them!

Been looking at wheels over the last few weeks, emailing companies to see if they will make them in the size, offset and centre bore that im after and I dont really have a lot of choice Sad

Rota wheels wont work on the dimma as they will only do them in 9.5" wide so will be to wide for the fronts
compomotive just want way too much money
speedline only offer the turinis in the size I want

A bloke off ebay is selling some speedlines and enkei ex evo 3rs magnesium alloys, waiting for a reply on the offset but doesnt look like they will be much use to me

Iv emailed revolution about the millenium wheels as they claim they will make them in any offset so fingers crossed they will make them with the correct centre bore and 0 offset Smile

Think they will look nice on the dimma in grey as its kinda the same colour as this cosworth

im hoping that they will do me a deal for 2 sets so I can have a set with wets and a set with road legal track tyres

iv been in contact with bridgecraft and they are going to make the components I need to wide track the rear beam but I just need confirmation that revolution will make the wheels with 0 offset so then I wont need wheel spacers at all

Got a discount for ordering 2 sets and an even better discount for currently being out in afghan lol
now to confirm that I want the rear wide track set up and then on the hunt for some tyres Smile

Well I'm now back in the UK so did a little bit on the dimma today
Put the standard hubs on the front so that I could turn the car around in preparation of putting the engine back in

Now iv got to remove the hubs again ready to fit the new negative camber ones and also remove the beam ready for the wide track one

Bit of a boring update... Sorry
Iv just taken my old gearbox (that I destroyed 3rd gear) along with another box and the straight cut gears to pug racing aka miles so hopefully I will end up with a box with 1st and 2nd shot peened 3rd and 4th straight cut and 5th and 6th shot peened as long as none of the shot peened gears got damaged when 3rd let go so fingers crossed!
Whilst the box is stripped I'm having the casing powdercoated silver.

My rear wide track bits should turn up this week so then I can get them and all my powdercoated beam bits down to miles so that he can build that up too.

My first set of wheels should turn up on the 4th so then I need to fit them and see how they sit in the arch, I will then be able to ring revolution and confirm the offset so they can make the second set.

Messed around with the car for a bit today drilling the hole in the bulk head for the lift reverse cable as it was originally a s16 shell with no hole for the cable

Hopefully more of an update in the next week or so before I go away on holiday but have been spending a lot of time sorting the bmw out Sad

Not a clue at the mo, it all depends on what needs replacing, miles said £1000 if I was to replace all the seals, bush's, bearings and synchros but I'm hoping it won't come to that lol

I overbraided the lift reverse cable so it matched the rest

I then finished off the supply and return from the swirl pot to the tank and fitted the carbon covers

Next is to figure out what size springs I need to clear the wheels due to the negative camber hubs
