Well the engine is with Rich now to have some work done and some other bits that rich advised me to get done at the same time so here is whats getting changed

ACL Heavy Duty Big End Bearings
ACL Heavy Duty Main Bearings
Thrust Bearings
Gates PowerGrip Timing Belt Kit inc. All Tensioners
Waterpump [enlarged impellor - from another engine]
End Bearing Cap Seals
Thermostat Housing Gasket
Thermostat Gasket
Inlet Manifold Gasket
Exhaust Manifold Gasket
Exhaust Manifold Studs
Exhaust Manifold Nuts
Oil pump sprocket - later single-piece type
Oil pump sprocket 'O' ring
Oil Pump Chain
Sump drain plug
Sump plug washer
Lower Dipstick Tube
Upper Dipstick Tube
Dipstick
Oil filter insert
Oil Filter

While Rich is cracking on with that lot he is also painting the block and head, I will be getting as many bits as I can powder coated for the engine.
My mate is painting the cam covers and inlet the same colour as the car

Iv been cracking on trying to make some other bits look nice and clean...

The charger has been polished

I tried to remove the alternator pulley so that I could clean that up but the pulley was well and truly stuck onto the input shaft, me being a bit heavy handed managed to peen over the end of the shaft and couldn't get the nut back on so I had to get another alternator

The pulley came off this one really easily

I used a wire brush attachment in my die grinder (forgot to take a pic of it cleaned up) and then gave it a few dust coats of black paint

Iv got to do the same with the starter motor and the power steering pump but ran out of time and paint so will post before and after pics once I have done them

Needed to fit the wings so that I can mark the hockey sticks, where they sit behind the wings they are a bit to thick and don't sit nicely into the wing so I will be removing some material so they fit better

Just got back from the coaters with some bits

I got them to blast the exhaust manifold, not sure if im going to leave it like this or VHT paint it yet!

Here is the rest of the bits that I had done... hopefully just one more trip to them with various bits including my hubs when I get them back and then fingers crossed I wont find any other bits that I want doing

Not sure if I will use the fuel cap as its not the best finish

Get it ceramic coated, will keep engine bay temps down and looks bas**rd cool. Expensive but we all know you're loaded.

That was my original plan but after getting a quote for £700 plus vat for the mani and 2 heat shields I can't justify that much!
I'm not loaded at all lol

Why do you need the heat shields coated?

He doesn't, the heat shields will work just fine as they are. Not sure if powder coating them was such a great idea though.

I just wanted everything to look clean even if its for just a few weeks, I can't see the powder coat getting damaged from the heat as people have cam covers etc done, I know the exhaust mani does get rather hot but hopefully they will be fine, I'm going to get another quote to get just the manifold ceramic coated if it's not as exspensive as the first quote I'll get it done and then I'm sure the heat shields will be fine

If you get the ceramic coating you shouldn't even need the heat shield mate . suppose to lower engine bay temps by an incredible amount. think I'm going to send off my downpipe to get that done too!

Ross how much did you pay to get your manifold done? I remember talking to you about it when I was out in Afghan last time and that's when I got a quote! I think the prices have gone up a lot since they have become more known in the motor racing industry

But have either of you tried it to see how much heat powdercoat will take? Didn't think so, why not try these things!
I could have left the car they way I got it and saved my self loads of money as it worked fine then....
And if it can't take the heat I can just get them blasted and refit.... No big deal really

A powder coated heat shield won't reflect heat as well as a bare one. That was what I was trying to get across. Anodising would've worked well if you wanted it to stay smart and not oxidise. The heat won't be likely to affect the powder coat itself as it's baked on in an oven.

Agreed however It didn't really cost me much to get them done as it seems the more I take the cheaper it is, anodising would have been far more expensive and to tell the truth I think I'm spending way to much on this car as it is and kinda wish I had never bothered!
On my grey car I never had either of the heat shields and never had an issue with the matrix pipes melting or the brake lines getting hot, if I do get the manifold ceramic coated fingers crossed the heat transfer will be minimal anyway

you're grey one wasn't charged though mate. Pretty sure that you'll get that manifold will glow red when your out on track get it coated and the engine bay will be much cooler. expensive but worth it.

I agre can't see you having any problems with the setup as it is! though it should have a positive effect on engine temp to as it will keep the heat in the manifold better meaning more exhaust gas velocity. As you say Ollie the more money you spend the less you get back with these cars nowadays. I think youres will be well worth a performance French car feature when it's done?

I wasn't having a go mate, just didn't see why you needed the extra expense of having the shields ceramic coated
