Because this Dimma is a show worthy car and whilst it's in bits it costs peanuts to get everything looking top notch.

Yeah I understand that, but as has been said, there's no need to go to the expense of ceramic coating when the shields don't require it. Cheaper alternatives could look just as good

Got a few things done over the last week but have been away with work so not as much as I wanted to get done

You lot will be happy to know I gave in and have sent my exhaust manifold off to get ceramic coated Smile so all those worried that my powder coated heat shields might be a bad idea hopefully they will be for show and wont have to stop the heat getting to the bulk head

Pressed my solid mount in

Re-routed the loom and secured the brake line, fitted the battery mount

Today my mate painted the inlet and cam covers

Also fitted my flocked parts, cluster and snap off steering wheel boss

Used zircotech went for a performance colour on top as they advise to do so for longer lasting finish

Did your buddy spray the inlet and cam covers with a particular paint or just the standard stuff used on the exterior of the car?

Just standard paint, he has done a few other cars cam covers, inlets and calipers and they have coped with the heat so fingers crossed mine will be alright if not he can do them again or I'll go down a different route

Is that per box on a order of 10?

That's just for one box and associated parts like shafts etc
Had a few hours spare over the last couple of days so I built the inlet back up after it had been painted

I was going to paint the engraving white but think I'm just going to leave it as it is

Started to build the doors back up so I can get them slaved back on the car while I go away as my nephew will be staying in the spare bedroom which is full of car parts

Couldn't fit the glass in the drivers door as the window bung was perished so I need to get a new one of them, all the grey foam will get fitted once iv tested that everything works

Took my hubs, fuel rail, sump, gearbox brackets, seat side mounts and some other little bits to the coaters and will get them back Friday then that's hopefully everything that needs to be coated... Spent nearly £1000 on powder coating alone on this car now ooops

I was starting to get curious as to how much that was costing Yes Cheaper maybe to paint some parts?

To be fair that's not a bad price considering more or less every part has been coated including the cage, powdercoat is longer lasting and less likely to chip.
Still need to get the dimma compomotive wheels done but I will get the wheel specialist to do them as they need a bit of work first

A week or so ago I gave my fuel rail and an weld on fittings to Rich W as he knew someone that could do a tidy job and indeed it was Smile
So I gave all my bits to the coaters and got them back yesterday after clear instructions to cover/bung certain parts up before coating...

Well as all the bits are wrapped up when I collect them I didn't realise that some parts were not masked off Sad

the an fittings on the fuel rail were coated so it took me a while to get the powder coat off them (I don't have the correct size die to clean the threads up but hopefully work have so they should be perfect come Monday night)

Luckily I made a plate to cover the sump however some media blast got inside

I started to clean the inside of the sump with some acetone but forgot to nip the drain plug up and realised after it had started to eat into the powder coat Sad I was thinking about getting it redone but sod it I cant be bothered (I know its not the attitude to take but im running out of time before I go and no one will see the sump anyway)
The damage is done

I got my hubs back from having negative camber machined into them so got them coated too, they need a little bit of work before I install the new wheel bearings but hopefully I will get round to that next week

Shame about the sump and would be a shame to leave it like that after doing all you have done!

cant you just give it a light spray with some silver paint or something?

Spray the sump in silver hammerite. If you just do the flat surface, it should blend down the sides and will only notice if you really look. Would be a shame to leave it like that with all the work you have put in!

Well iv got to go back to the coaters on Monday as he has forgot to give me back some bits so I might see if he can do it again in a day or two and see how much he wants if not I'll give it a blow over with paint, just really p**sed me off and I'm getting fed up of this build now

Today I got the sump sorted so pretty happy with that now

I got the hubs blasted and gave them a coat of silver paint

Ordered new wheel bearings, ball joints, track rod ends and handbrake cables from ecp and get them tomorrow so can hopefully get them built up and get the car back on the ground

Also went to pug and got new pinch bolts and nuts for the hubs, 2 new door half hinge bolts as iv lost a pair somehow and also got the grommet so that I can fit the glass in the door

Last night me and my mate fitted the doors but they still need some fine adjustments to sit right but it will do for now as I needed them out of the house for when im away

Wont be many more updates for the next 3 months but when I get back this beast is going to be back on the road asap
