Bit bored at work on Friday afternoon (only so much Paralympics you can watch out on the circuit!) so have started to think about the suspension setup for the track car.

First thing to note is that it's purely a track car and is trailered everywhere so I don't need to worry about it being too stiff (oh er!) for the road.

From what I've read, this is roughly what I need:

- KW V2s
- 21mm TBs
- Hybrid (possibly 30mm?) ARB
- Rich_W roller bushes
- Adjustable droplinks
- Weld-in cage to help overall stiffness as well

Is there anything I've missed?

Cheers! Smile

I'd agree, but possibly thicker torsion bars, and after driving a car with 'proper' track suspension V2's feel too soft, although most people love them (including myself until I tried my Penske stuff, but they are about £2k/shock...) Also, you'll probably want solid rear beam mounts, and citroen zx rear arms as they have 0 toe.

and while you chuck solid rear mounts in, make sure you get some completely solid gearbox, lower mount and lighter custom made Colin Satchell top mounts and get your cradle welded up so it can never ever break. then polycarb windows, stainless brake pipe throughout, a bias valve, add loads and loads of bits to your cage so you simply cannot die inside it, and rack up a £3k bill alone on that, seat bars welded in, add roof bars, gussets, get the cage remade in T45, then take everything out of the car and start again with the wiring and only wire up what is needed, and bin about 25kg of waste wire. then, realise your car is so solid that it's falling apart, and buy every nut and bolt again but Nyloc. then be happy with it for a bit. then, sell the car for next to nothing

I'm looking at getting second hand V2s as money is tight initially. Hopefully these should suffice until the need for an even better setup arises allowing me to save up a bit more cash.

Forgot about solid beam mounts! I didn't know about the ZX rear arms, useful though as I have a spare beam I want to build up.

I'm guessing someone's in an optimistic mood today? Razz

Cage will be made out of T45 to start with, so saves that hassle!

Solid engine mounts is another good plan, as are the upgraded top mounts. Perhaps some of russian guy's adjustable camber mounts might be good...

I'll save the weight-lose tips for another thread Wink

i like vibra mounts plus when/if the rubber perishes it can be changed instead of buying another mount! you could have the same set up for £190
