Followed you into work this morning in the hdi, as I've got brembo's on the 6 now I've put the 283mm 6 brakes on the hdi. Did you already have 266mm setup for this or are you looking to get? Got a full set here you can have if you need. needs discs though.

Also me and a few mates are gonna organise a rolling road day soon if your interested? £35 for 2 runs with a very accurate RR. Will be on a Sunday.

ah yea i had to thrash it briefly.it still occasionally bogs down and stalls in slow traffic. Just this morning I was thinking how much the standard brakes suck over my old 266s. Even with a bigger MC and braided brake lines.
Also OMP fast road pads SUCK a big one, worst pads I've ever had.
I'll have em off you come payday!
Rolling road day sounds great, give a lil bit of notice so I can take time off work!

Have them now mate if you want their only sat at work. Changed them as the discs were rusted to fook on the inside so you'll need new discs.but calipers are all good. It didn't stop to bad actually but better now with the 6 brakes on Wink.

Have put up a thread on here about RR day. Will ring them soon to book a date.

Cool i'll have them. How much we're you after? Gives me a chance to give them a lick of paint before they go on when I get new wishbones and Arb bushes next week.

You can have all the pads and the discs if you want to get it going but one side is rusted to fook on the inside... Got the caliper bolts etc all sliders and pistons are ok. And no hurry at all for cash mate.

Yellow is a bas**rd to get good coverage, needs a light grey or preferably white primer cost to come out nicely, otherwise it takes lots of costs to cover the dark patches.

few bits arrived this morning-
GrpN linkages
Fuel pump & sender
green temp sensor
map sensor

no pics of stuff fitted as i was in a rush.

Does it run any better? Not.one.bit:mad:

issue:
Jerky in low revs, misfires, stall as I approach junctions.

I've replaced-
Throttle position sensor
idle control valve
map sensor
fuel pump & sender
green temp sensor
radiator
coilpack
under ecu relay

I have new spark plugs arriving this afternoon but I have totally lost interest in the engine and the hunt for a strong 16v is underway:mad:

A lot of that can be caused by the light flywheel (think you got one on it) and/or the map. My charged 6 is exactly the same in low revs and stalls easy as f**k even after nev ICV and sensors etc. like the yellow hammerite! Might go with that on the hdi calipers. Does it cope with the heat ok? Painted my engine mount bracket with black hammerite and think that's still ok (but is behind charger so cant really see lol)

I've put the standard flywheel back on and also replaced the crank sensor..
I think the pulley on the cam might be out slightly and needs setting right, that could affect the idle.
New spark plugs are going in tomorrow, after that I give up and plan to 16v it in the next couple of months.

On a positive note few more lil bits arrived.
balljoints, spark plugs and 22mm Arb polybushes.
I am still waiting for a set of polybushed wishbones to arrive with new rear mounts.
Anti roll bar and wishbones will get a lick of paint over the weekend and get fitted at the same time as the 266 brake set up.

Sometimes I wish I still had my China 6. The Rallye is rewarding when driven hard.
Old spark plugs, still smells like its running a bit rich.
haven't had a chance to take it for a drive yet to see if the stalling issue has disappeared.

Fairly new leads

New polybush 22mm Arb bushes

Rubbish pics of GrpN linkages fitted

New green temp sensor

New map sensor

Plastic cam cover removed when it started to rain conveniently so I left it alone.

Got the yellow Hammerite on the go yet for the calipers? Or not bothering? You won't see them much under the steelys anyway. If you fit the brakes this weekend gimme a shout and I'll come bleed them with you.

I have sat off, would be massively appreciated if you could Pete. I left em as in the pic above. As you said, they'll just be behind the steels anyway.

UPDATE-
I have a friend who is kind enough to lent me a warm, well lit garaged space at the end of the month to use.
I have given up on sorting the running issue and cam timing, i simply dont have the knowledge. It's a lairy race spec cam, its expected to not run smooth. Engine would be better off in a rally car.

I'm getting bored again and I have a plan. The car will stay but it's getting a fresh breath of air. Some more valves maybe.

Refurbished wishbone arrived today. Polybushed with new rear mounts. I hammered out the balljoints, need to drop them off at a friendly garage to have them pressed in properly

also picking up an Xsi spoiler tomorrow. Makes the car look a bit more aggressive I think. Also ordered a fabia vrs splitter for the front as I want to move the numberplate down like on my old one.

New balljoints are now on. It feels a bit heavier on the steering and a lot more firm and has made a nice difference. But the knocking noise is still there, the culprit being top mount bearing. It's a lot quieter and less frequent now with the new wishbones fitted and for now isn't a priority. I'll take the struts off when I do the 16v conversion at the end of the month and have a garage fit new top mount kit both sides.
