Sold my 306 Gti-6 to a friend am waiting for delivery of my new toy.
I test drove it while on the hunt for a fast road spec'd series 2 Rallye but was blown away by this lil riot.

It's one of only a few Series 1s to have had the Skip Brown Roadspeed conversion,there are receipts in excess of 9k here!

Spec is very impressive and it is by far the most entertaining and special car I have owned to date.Big grin

spec:

1.3 8v Rallye engine
full rebuilt with
1294 Bottom End with Pocketed notch cut pistons
triple angle valve seats
Skip Brown Ported + polished head
Piper 285 Cam AX Gt 'rally' spec
lightened & balanced flywheel

Piper Vernier Pulley

I've probably missed a few other bitsSmile

cannot wait to have it delivered and start building up the spec.


And No, im keeping this as a 1.3 and i wont drop a 16v engine in. this has just as much of a kick to it.

Soon guysSmile probably picking it up today (Friday) or sat. 4hrs of 5k rpm at 70 yay, best take some earplus!

I'm not too sure really. It's had some weight stripped, looking at about 790 kg and 120-125 bHp at a guess. Will find out once the cam pulley has been adjusted right and it's been rolling roaded. Goes like a stabbed rat!

Yup, stock is 100bhp, 825kgs
This feels almost as quick as my old 16v'd Rallye,very pleased with itSmile

New front bumper
drivers door
cut the cat out of the pugsport and replace with straight pipe.
polybush wishbones & front Arb
new top mount bearings
nissens radiators
new s2 steels with decent rubber
xsi spoiler
206 266mm front brake set up
clean out & seal the arches
replace cheap affords g.box oil with the proper Peugeot stuff
grpN gear linkages
And 16v it!! plenty of engines on the forums and eBay. Just need someone to fix me up a loom then it's a days work!

I AM 16Ving IT AS SOON AS I FIND A GOOD ENGINE. Sorry puristsSmile the lil skip Brown engine is worth a nice bit,that will easily cover the conversion cost.

The 1.6 16v is more drivable, power is there sooner and smoother. The current engine is pretty lairy but gutless until about 5.5k, then it screams all that way to 8k. great for a track car but as a daily it's just going to get annoying.

good to meet you the other day mate, if you find some new wheels let me know as ill probably have your old s1 wheels off you for the 205. should help add to its saleability.

not running 100% but I've successfully narrowed it down to idle control valve. I tried a mates on mine and it ran sweetSmile steels look good from a distance.you're for cheap once I find some s2 steels.

Great purchase mate. Thought it wouldn't be too long before you got another one of these!

Out of interest do you know what the Series 2 rallyes are like to drive compared with the S1's? Haven't owned either but you've got me looking through the classifieds!

yup I live for the 106 RallyeSmile really regret selling my last one. I've decided to keep this one as a 1.3 now. The engine and gearbox are a great match.
only driven a fast road S2 for a weekend but prefer the S1. It's more raw,involving and feels lighter although there is only a sub 40kg difference.both totally rewarding to drive, more so than say a 306 wallye or 172 Cup.
For me it will always be the S1 but I almost bought an s2 last week instead. Test drive one, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Closest to a 205 Gti,I'll take you for a spin sometime.

Few bits ordered over the last few days
new lower strut brace
polybushed wishbones with new balljoints
polybush front Arb mounts
266mm brakes,pads& discs
lambda sensor
Icv
crank sensor
cat back pugsport decat centre section to replace the current pugsport centre section that has a standard cat welded in.
standard airbox( to drill small holes & fit uprated panel filter)
New coolant temp sensor
nissens Radiator


that'll keep me busy the next few weeks.
next payday will see me getting
S2 steels to refurb in original white, 4 new T1Rs and respray front and rear bumper and look for a better condition bonnet as mine has rust patches,key mark and small dents.
