If its on eBay then the majority of people that will bid/make an offer won't have seen the car, unless I've missed the point it tends to be how eBay works. Obviously you get your timewasters as with anything but if its accurately described then quite often you won't have a problem.

I don't get the whole problem with what's the lowest you'll take, I sell loads of stuff by people asking that very question, I give them a straight answer and they either buy it or not. It's not really hassle and if you can't be bothered to reply via message then that's you being lazy IMO. People put ono on an ad then moan they get offers lol. It saves how ever many haggling messages and stops the chance of the person saying sorry someone else has just agreed a price before you could. You ask a bottom line price then accept or decline the deal, to me its how things work and I very rarely have any problems buying or selling stuff over the internet.

i put my mercedes CL55 AMG on ebay and after a day i'd had more than 10 emails offering lower money than my starting bid without even coming to see it. naturally, i wound them up senseless. my starting bid was £5500 and i had offers of about £2k. it sold to the right person for the right money Smile

likewise i just had a full 205 SD cage and buckets on ebay and someone offered me £120 for the lot (which i'd already sold for £320 anyway)

ebay = cheaper stuff, so people want bargains

I wouldn't say it puts me off but certainly does make you ask the question 'why so cheap?' etc

I don't know if you have but certainly with a car I always leave a contact number on Ebay, you tend to find picking up the phone isn't too much hassle for someone that has genuine interest where as it's far too much effort for the timewasters so it helps weed them out a bit.

Good luck with selling your car though, we all know Ebay can be head work but there are still plenty of tidy, genuine buyers on there.

I think it works brilliantly for both buyer and seller. The first thing I will ask is what's the lowest you will take can collect today. If the price is right I will arrive with the cash when agreed and take the car, no haggling, no questions, no walking round the car. In fact the past few cars I have bought I have not seen, the buyer gets the car gone straight away no bulls**t test drives trawling through paperwork etc and I get a good hassle free deal.

Blimey - Blast from the past, welcome back Jonnie. Thumbs up

If only all buyers were as straight forward as you, no-one would have any problems at all. LOL

I just put a cheeky offer in on some genuine front discs for my S6 as the guy has had them for sale for weeks.

BIN £199.99 my offer £175.00; half hour later offer declined BIN price jumps to £289.99 yet the price from Audi is £250.

Perhaps the person no longer has them available so has put a silly price on it, seems common practice on eBay these days rather than remove and re pay another listing fee.

I think on the whole I have more problems and hassle when I'm trying to buy things than sell as people always say 'make me an offer' etc when you enquire about the price. If you know how much you want for something bottom line price then I don't see the problem disclosing that amount and quite often you get people like jonny that simply buy it off you hassle free or get a reply saying its ok I'll leave it. When you say make an offer then you can't complain if that amount is lower than you want and its the buyer being awkward in that scenario imo.

Because Ryan, if the seller immediately discloses the lowest possible price he is prepared to accept he loses out on all possibility of gaining a higher price! It's simple economics. If you are prepared to sell that way, fine, post sale threads as such, state 'lowest price, no offers' and have done with it. But don't be surprised if you still get some idiot ask you what the lowest price you will sell it for?
