In that case 406 Brembos + Tarox discs + EBC pads + decent brake fluid will do you absolutely fine ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Nothing really, besides the fact to car is turbocharged and produces 280bhp.That was the reason for me, opening this thread - to understand if the 406 are really better before i am dumping them and getting back to my OEM GTI6 calipers. With the GTI6 (before the turbo project) I was running around with Red.Dot 20 grooved discs and pads - the car's braking was very good - for 3 years. The suggestion here is that i use Tarox G88 with pads along with the 406 brembos. |

I've had the misfortune of dealing with Hi-spec and Geoff the owner of the firm a few years ago. In my experience they use s**t materials for discs, machining is poor on alloy bells and the customer service was bloody awful.I ran Hi-spec stuff on my 247bhp Escort Turbo track car and the discs would warp every other trackday, in the end i got sick of dealing with s**t service and had a bespoke AP racing 315mm 4 pot kit built up by AP racing agents, BG developments in bromsgrove. They had a hub, upright and 2 x wheels for a week and built the kit to fit. Tremendous service and quality second to none. NEVER had an issue with warping after that, apart from pad changes due to wearing them out, never touched it. I recently binned all the old discs and bells and s**tty 4 pot hi-spec calipers as thats all they were good for. IMO, either uprate the standard pads, or go the whole hog for an AP kit. Incidentally, Ballardpauls price of £950 is very reasonable for the whole kit. Did that include genuine AP rotors Paul? ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ (now gone...)2004 Aegean Blue 206 GTi 180 (also gone...) 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS in Sprint Yellow honestly3k wrote: Do you wrestle for a living matt? Yeah they are genuine, the kit was bought off of a member on here and had only been trial fitted prior to me buying them so 'technically' a new kit. Believe they are around £1600-£1700 new from a shop. ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi 6 (Standard) SoldPhase 3 Supercharged China GTi 6 (249.8 BHP) Sold Phase 3 Supercharged Diablo GTi 6 (443 BHP)Sold Nissan 350Z (300 BHP) |

if you decide to go for the g88s. make sure you ask for xantia v6 discs. for some bizarre reason, c5 v6 discs (although exactly the same measurements) seem to be between £15-20 dearer i have just bought tarox g88 from eurocarperformance for £222.14 inc delivery now i just need to get my brembos painted ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. They do sell car parts, just not AP racing, or any other brakes brand.I can buy a new AP racing kit, for instance. It will cost around £1800 including shipment, on top of this, probably 40% tax and my brakes will be sorted out. But i think i can get away with Tarox disc and some pads. it seems like a good, logical solution for the 406 brembo noise. |

Yeah I think as he points out, a NEW kit will cost more than it would here, plus they have 40% tax there... That is one expensive brake upgrade. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Sure, its always possible. As well as the fact you can ask the shop to declare the value as 50 quid and hope for the best. |

I'll vote for standard with good disks and pads, seeing as you make it clear its more for road use than track I think they will be more than upto the job and by the sounds of it will be a lot less hassle for you.I'm not saying the brembo's aren't better but with the costs and hassle I wouldn't bother for road use myself, either stay standard or spend the money and get a proper upgrade if/when you need it IMO. ________________________________________ Ryan |
