Isnt LPG a higher Octane than normal unleaded as well?

Engine bay looks cluttered, but the normal 6 is a messy bay anyway. Be interesting to see how it fares longer term, colder weather etc etc.

I was sceptical but i drove it last sunday and there is actually no differance in performance, if anything it actually idles smoother.... I for one was surprised..... Good job. (i'd still never do it to mine though)

They are not meant to have bad mpg,thats just a downside which this Gti6 now does not have Thumbs up

Seb, you're about to hit 1000 posts. Congrates mate. And obviously yours is quicker, but I believe if we had a race with no speed limit, no other cars, and travelled around 300 miles, I'd win!

Reason I think that is because although you might get to 140mph slightly quicker I'll still be on your tail, then you'd have to top up because 140mpg would rinse your 1 tank, whereas I'll just switch to my second tank of LPG/Petrol and carry on! See ya Seb! haha

Interesting.

What about the startup on petrol and switch to LPG thing? Do you have to do that? How does that work?

Pressumably you have to keep topping up the unleaded also...

Ill get to 140 so much quicker than you that i'd have time to fill up before you caught me. Plus you'd pussy out and not stick to 140 for 300miles and wouldn't take them roundabouts half as quick as me.

Just keep about 1/4 tank of petrol. It starts on petrol and after about 10 seconds (or until it reaches the correct functioning engine temperature) it auto switches to LPG, unless I press the button saying I want to use petrol. Not sure how this will be effected in winter, maybe take a minute to warm up before it goes to LPG. What's a minute worth of Petrol of a car idling though, not much I guess.

Flashlube keeps the valves lubricated and helps stop them corroding.

I was also quoted £850 all in from some places. Not a chance though. I wouldn't want a cheap kit as they do tend to have problems. I've been told to get a kit of the same premium brand. BRC and Prinns are top from what I've read/heard. So make sure if anyone does decide to have a conversion done, that ALL parts are of the same brand, preferably BRC/Prinns.

Also, make sure you use a UKLPG approved installer. More info here: http://www.drivelpg.co.uk/. I travelled 100 miles to get my conversion done, had a free courtesy car for a week (05 mondeo, hated it, drove like a barge)

Also shows the LPG filling stations although I've had a look and some dont seem to be filling stations, but may sell LPG

There is a local place to me that only sells LPG and no other fuel. I think it's about 70p roughly, is that about right? Got to say Jamma I think this is a great thing you've done and I'm really interested in doing this myself. So there is no big bottle in the boot anymore then? LOL
