I wouldd say thats juicey. Move averages 30mpg easy round town, 32-35 combined and I got 38mpg average on its last 250 mile motorway run. I'd say the lamda mine be dicky.

Also if one is using Walbro 225LPH fuel pump would it also make it a gas guzzler? My old fuel pump died and replaced it with Walbro unit and felt like it's using more petrol.

Thnks all.

As Welshy says the fuel pump won't affect it as you have a fuel pressure regulator on the rail. So even if the pump was pumping more than before, the regulator would just use what it needed and put the rest back to tank. Yes

The lambda is the top suspect. Yes

Shock

That isn't very good at all, I can still get 380 miles to a tank running over 450bhp...

Lambda replacement fix that? Saying that I had it on a diagnostics machine and only one issue came back which was nothing to do with the lambda. Hg has recently failed could that cause the excessive fuel?

Page 110 of the handbook states that 20.8 MPG is the urban figure for this car.
30.1 mixed and 39.8 inter-urban too.

These figures tally up for me: I've never achieved much beyond 40 MPG calculating it the proper way.

I only average 250-280 from a full tank, but assumed it was because of the multitude of short trips that I do, am I right in saying the lambda doesn't have much to do with fueling until all is up to temp anyway? Btw I got a new lambs last year and it made no difference

Yer I normally get close to 40 when I do the trip home from Bath if I drive sensibly, maybe it is the nature of my short trips and hilly Bath that are screwing me over!

This could have contributed to a lambda failure. If the HG failure was throwing coolant down the exhaust it would have contaminated the sensor. Yes

Hmm I'll just run it once I get it back and keep tabs on it. Considering it's only town driving it sounds normal to everyone else'. If it gets worse I'll just replace it.

Heavy right foot is the main cause of fuel consumption!!Smile

Anyone that gets over 35mpg out one of these cars must drive like Miss.Daisy and should really sell it and buy a dirty diesel if they want to pootle around like thatYes

Commuting in mine I just about clear 30mpg,thats with alot of early morning/late night 80-90mph driving.

If I'm off work and doing the school run/shopping etc I don't see much over 25mpgNo

I get good returns on mine as I drive sensibly 90% of the time. No point wasting fuel and risking getting caught speeding to shave 5mins off my trip home. Wink

Totally agree. Yes

It is possible to drive these cars at very high pace and return good MPG even supercharged....I know because I've done it. Yes

Most i've got is about 35mpg, average is about 28 and that is mostly through a stop-start commute of 4 miles. I can see how they could do 40 if it was all motorway or 60mph roads.

My latest calculation (and i say calculation loosely as i didnt run it till it conked out) from full tank to about driving around for 20miles on red light was 394miles to the tank, which works out around 33mpg.

And i cain her every slip road i meet tbh, although that is mostly sticking to 70mph and 90% motorway miles. There is a 15mile A-road close to home where she might see 85mph but generally im a good boy Whistle

Thats HDI miles LOL Big grin
