That's right, then you'll end up with the amount of fuel you put in *before* driving the 270 miles, which is a totally irrelevant number... Roll eyes

How much of it is left? 5 Litres? 10 Litres? None of it, and then some? Who knows! Let's guess and make up inaccurate MPG figures!

You need to find the volume of fuel that you've burned *after* driving those 270 miles. LOL

It certainly does appear to be rocket science doesn't it! LOL

Filled up my 205 this morning, 43.4 litres, 335 miles, 35 MPG.

£1.38.9 per litre for Tesco's finest Momentum SUL, £60.28 Shock

Its a 1.9 8 valver with a Kent PT 36 cam, standard 9.6-1 compression standard inlet and injectors, magnex 4 branch manifold and a Longlife 2 box 2" bore system, and a Bosch MP3.1 management system from a ZX 1.9 Volcane, which means no blasted AFM or DIZZY Big grin

Being a thick question... how do you work out the MPG?

I get 300 miles to a full tank. I think it is pretty bad tbh LOL

One thing I noticed looking through my receipts is while the fuel can be cheaper per litre, the amount you get can change. I only go to the same garage and both times I put £60.01 in, the first top up was 138.9 which got me 45.51 litres. The second top up was 135.9 and got me 44.15 litres. First time I've ever noticed this but needless to say I'm going to keep an eye on it :s

You brim the tank, reset the trip meter, drive until near-empty, fill the tank all the way back up again, note the litres you just put in (not the first tank, that's irrelevant) and note the miles you've covered on your trip meter.

You then divide the litres of the 2nd fill-up by 4.546. The resultant number is the gallons you've just put in the tank (and have consequently just burned). You then divide the miles covered on the trip meter by the gallons and hey presto: MPG. Thumbs up

Getting 'x' miles to a tank means jack s**t, you've got to do it the proper way to get an MPG figure. Smile

I always fill up at the same pump if I'm trying to calculate the MPG.

go to a petrol station and fill back up, make a note of the total mileage covered since you filled up last.

divide the mileage by the number of litres, which will be your miles per litre figure, then multiply the result by 4.54 to get the miles per gallon.

so say you added 50 litres to top it back up, 300 / 50 = 6 x 4.54 = 27.24 mpg.

The first fuel up is £60.01 / £1.389 = 43.20 litres of fuel. So they gave you an extra couple of litres free? Good deal!

Ok taThumbs up

This is why peoples figures make me wonderWink DCC is happy with 37mpg out of the C2,a smaller lot less powerfull/prob more efficient eng/management engine than his Gti6 eng on bodies, but that could do 35MPG around townDunno

Well the C2 is a lot heavier, slower revving, has air con, has power steering, electric throttle... all of these make the car more 'hungry' for fuel...

My landrover is like the weight of a c2 and a 205 combined, and 4 wheel drive, so for that to do anything over 30 I am very happy with!

not forgetting my 205 gti had an engine map which had been tweaked and perfected by the map owner in various trial and error situations over the past xx years of his work. the c2 has a generic map which isn't trimmed to suit the engine, unlike the 205 map.

It's funny as well, that the 205 v6 we drove 4000 miles averaged over 330 miles per tank, roughly averaging 35 mpg. It also did 156mph Big grin
