As these cars are getting on a bit now in terms of age I thought of doing the following just out of curiousity...

I was thinking it would be interesting to start a thread detailing your current mileage (approx) and then working out the average mileage of the forum using the calculation of adding all entries together and then dividing by number of entries to find the mean...

So, if you just copy and paste the list and add yours at the bottom, and we can keep a running calculation going. Smile

Stan, I don't believe you've thought this through properly: this will have a huge impact on the people who wish to clock their cars in the future. It will be very awkward explaining why they posted a much higher figure than is displayed at sale-point. They might not even consider it an issue at the moment, but who knows what the furture may bring? It's a crazy old world.

Just my 2 pence worth.

Hasn't this been tried a few times now? It will soon drift off into a thread about Carla low mileage rallye.

What an odd comment LOL We all best not get MOT's then as it will be listed on the internet for everyone to see how many miles you car has done between tests. (Stan needn't worry. He doesn't drive the thing LOL)

I presume you intend to clock yours then come resale as it is obviously a concern for you.

It's a thread regarding "average" mileage though Ian, not who's got the highest or lowest. We all know Carl has the lowest and Miles has the highest, the point of this thread is to concentrate on what the average score is over the whole forum based on the cars age now. Yes

Well there's no reason for me to clock my pristine 21,665 mile example, but my only slight concern is my faulty dashboard that occasionally displays ~149,000. I wouldn't want this putting anyone off one of the lowest mileage Gti-6's still on the road, if I come to sell in future.

In order to keep it a useful statistic the entries really have to be a '6' or a Rallye Mei...Wink

I have one 1997 engine with 75k in my 205, another with ~70k in my Xsara. A 1998 rebuilt one with around 100k in another 205 And the newest of them all has 138k in my Astor.

It really should be done on the model only, as for example my current engine has done 8795 miles since it was built but the car has done 62300...which figure would you suggest I put down? LOL
