Yo peeps, i've been looking into the throttle body conversion that pug1off offer for the GTI 6, as you may know it costs a shade under 2k and for this handsome sum you get a Throttle body, 4-2-1 manifold, New Cams and an ECU remap, total cost includes VAT and fitting.

what i would like to know is if people think this a good conversion to go for as i'm very keen to have this done.

it would be great if i could get some feedback off anyone who has already had this done to their pug, and some photos/videos of this setup would be a bonus

thought i'd post this to see what people think Yes

Cheerz

Firstly it's not a throttle body kit, it's cams and a re- map. Secondly the re-map isn't bespoke it's a generic map so you won't get the best gain for your car.

However pug1off smash all the events and alwAys have there cars on track because the stuff they do works and is reliable. More than can be said about some other Peugeot tuning
Companies.

I am so impressed with there stuff I may go in
For the cams kit myself. Will Probly leave out the exhaust mani though.

£2k for cams and a remap! Thats very expensive. It will probs only be fast road cams aswell because anything wilder would need different pistons. Highflow heads offer a throttle body kit with ecu and loom for £1700 if i remember right Thumbs up

New Peugeot 306 GTi-6 / Rallye / XU10J4RS 195 bhp Stage Two tuning package launched by Pug1off

The ultimate bolt-on tuning upgrade has arrived for your Peugeot 306 GTi-6, Rallye or 205 GTi with an XU10J4RS transplant! Carefully developed using well proven components including Cat Cams / a Pug1off ECU remap / a Pug1off 4-2-1 performance manifold and a Pug1off gasflowed throttle body, this package has been independently dyno tested at 195 bhp and 155 lb.ft of torque.

Offering large amounts of additional power allied to strong mid-range torque and excellent driveability, the Pug1off Stage Two tuning package represents a lower priced alternative to throttle body conversions and is lighter on insurance premiums too.

SO the setup won't look like this...

Would use your standard inlet manifold with a gasflowed throttle body.

There will be loads about it if you have a search. Will run with a standalone ECU So more flexible with the set up for a start. Well developed kit from what I read. I'm moving a set on to my 205 with some cat cams. The bodies are GSXR ones IIRC, but used to be Lotus ones. Mounted on a bespoke inlet manifold with well tested tract lengths etc.

They both have a good reputation in the Peugeot scene and can set the car up to your preferred use and driving style whether it be for fast road or hill climbs and low down sprints etc.

Is probably more about it on 205 gti drivers, than on here so perhaps have a google.

If i'm honest, I just want the noise LOL

gotcha, the reason why i'm interested in what pug1off have to offer is that i have hardly any mechanical knowledge and no tools or premises so theres no way i can do anything like this myself, getting a proper company to do the work for me is the only option.

just to confirm, what pug1off offer isn't a throttle body kit its just one throttle body, so effectively running the same setup as standard (is this right or wrong)

Drive down to Sandy and go back to collect LOL

Yeah it sounds like a modified single throttle body to replace the standard one on the inlet.

For that money, I think I would be going for 4 throttle bodies.

    YouTube for sound clips Wink

Would like to know total cost of conversion and fitting Thumbs up

I thought ITB's were on average around £1500 just for the parts but maybe im wrong? Didnt think you could do cams + ITB's on a 2k budget?

2K does seem steep for what that conversion is. But cant really see you getting much more for that kind of money?

The Sandy/Colin set up consists of engineered inlet and brackets, trumpets etc. Then you have the bodies cost on top unless you supply. Then you obviously have to buy the management and have it mapped.

I think 2k more than covers the Sandy/Colin set up.

Cams aren't essential obviously, but make a nice addition for best results.

The only difference between a standard TB and the one pug1off are offering is the lip that sits inside the original TB is removed offering better flow. Doesn't make f**k all if any difference maybe a touch more responsive.

I agree with the above though the cams will be very mild nothing like a PT81 etc. And as regards ECUs a custom remap to your engine will always win hands down.

You can just book to drop your car off, have the whole lot fitted and set up and then just collect it after with a wedge of cash. He would supply the lot.

Huge minefield here, TB's are expensive for what you get power wise but when you add cam's it comes into it's own, The std manifold and TB flow very well for a standard item
The main concern when fitting cams blind is the clearance

I done my own throttle body. Took about 2hours with a dremle, sand paper and some metal polish for a nice smooth finish. It allows that little bit more air in making it abit more responsive. It does make abit of difference abd doing it your self would save you tge money pug1off want for the same thing.
£250 will get your cams re-profiled and most places will a rolling road will offer mapping probs around £300ish so thats £550, a saving of £1450 straight away for the same work just about Laugh my ass off

Agreed its an easy enough job to do at home and as you agree the gain is very minimal. Pug1off do seem expensive though.

I do worry about reprofiled cams, on the standard cams the case hardening won't be very deep i'd have thought. So by reprofiling them surely you risk breaking through to the soft steel beneath. Unless they build up the cams with a hardcase mig wire then they may be okay. Does anyone the process's used?

case hardening is deep enough, otherwise they wouldn't get re-profiled.
