I used halfords high temp paint and it was good.To clean, I would go with brake cleaner. Is sub £1.50 a tin from Peugeot off the top of my head and does a better job than some degreasers i've used. It's what I used on my covers, block etc before painted and has been fine. ________________________________________ |

I didn't bother using laquer. I think it said something about not bothering. You don't need to use primer with it either.Silver to make it look OEM. White will just look dirty against everything else I imagine. ________________________________________ |

Clean it uP well first using different size wire brush attachments (to get in all the nooks and crannies) in a cordless drill. I would use etch primer first and then If you want a smooth finish rather than the factory bumpy one then use a few coats of primer or high build Primer second. I would defiantly use a laquer after, high temp would be better. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

I have just started cleaning some bits up as am doing the rocker cover gasket at the same time, i got a high temp silver paint from halfords and said don;t use primer with it. Is it actually possible to clean engine up a bit with it still in car? bloody everything is in the way ________________________________________ A red rallye in progress! |

I would use 2k clear coat if polished or 2k epoxy primer with 2k paints of any colour you wish to use. These methods will outlast the car, epoxy primer is the toughest primer out there, can also be used on aluminum blocks too. I used degreaser before and got oil leaks, so thanks for the brake cleaner tip, very good ________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug.
