Hi guys, I did do a search but couldn't find what I was really looking for, and when I did for some reason I couldn't see the prices?

I am planning getting my belt changed, My 6 has got 123,000 miles and I don't have any history of a belt changed in the past. Is it worth going to Peugeot to get it done and get a warranty? What sort of price am I looking at for the job all in, water pump as well etc.. and is there anything else worth doing while the belt is getting changed?

Again sorry if this has been covered!

Cheers

Peugeot will charge you around £450 to change the timing belt, associated tensioners, waterpump and coolant.

If you went to a Pug specialist they would probably charge you around £300 maybe less and you would still get a warranty. Smile

By 'Kent' belt do you mean replacing the cambelt with one made by camshaft manufacturer Kent? If so, the answer is no, stick to either a Dayco or Gates belt. Yes

Yeh Peugeot ecosse has on the web site that the Kent belt would be an upgrade, but seems like its not as good as they make out, Just of the phone Ecosse, for everything done, water pump etc.. all in inc VAT £300. doesnt seem to bad to me if am honest, Peugeot ecosse is still a 2 hour drive from me but seems like it will be worth it. Thumbs up

Sounds like a decent price from Ecosse given that it includes VAT. Go for that one then. Thumbs up

Piper do a cambelt and it is better quality than Dayco or Gates worth getting over a standard belt

Nah, its nice to go to an insured garage for the cambelt and have some cover if it goes prematurely. I did do rachel's zx one but tbh, I don't like doing anything on my own car. Smile

Not sure why people travel for miles and miles to get a belt changed. It's just a car, with a cambelt, mechanics do them everyday, so just find one that you trust and get them to do it.

You say that but the number that end up tappers after a belt change is silly. Mine included (prior to my ownership).

If thats the case then find a Peugeot specialist rather than a general mechanic. There are loads of them around. Yes

Isnt the nation reason for mistiming the engine and causing a tap caused by a knackered crank pulley? Of so, people should factor it in and should have nowt to worry about.
