Started off with some harmless idiocy - back in '04, club Croft trackday. Later found out the shocks it had on had been supplied faulty! The original "Flymo".

Got the trackday bug, but 3-6 track cars were few and far between then, and price-y to develop, so Flymo went and Mr Whippy arrived. 2l 16v, was a grand car, selling it was the daftest thing.

Then decided I wanted to go racing, so bought Flymo 2, an ex-Roadsaloon Astra GTE.

Long story, but that ended up sold off for parts after costing me a garage-load of cash. Though I did turn a profit on another roadsaloon, without ever even driving it!

Raced a couple of times back in '07 with this Nova GTE, then life conspired to get in the way and it ended up being broken up last year.

The Gaz golds and a few other bits have made their way onto a Nova SR which I haven't managed to track yet. The colour and sunstrip are NOT my doing! Hoping to get onto a track this year, and maybe try some sprints in the future.

In the meantime the occasional toy is a totally standard black rallye - probably rare as rocking horse doo-doo to find a standard one now.

Hmm..... I really haven't covered myself in glory. I should have saved up and bought an M3. LOL

Ahhhh, that's where it all began. Big grin

What a fantastic day that was, and glad to see my original starter chariot in the background!
(Sorry if you're reading this Nuno... i should probably admit that it did a few trackdays in 2004! Whistle)

Anyway, since selling my beloved 106 to Pete, I moved on with a new 306 project.

Currently running a standard engine, KW v3s, trick rear beam, 4-pots and, thanks to PhillipM, a very custom Custom Cage. Sadly not had a great deal of chance to stretch her legs, but she did do a 'ring trip at the end of last year

I've not touched the ride height Kev Dunno It does look low at the back in those photos though, probably down to frantic acceleration in th 1st pic LOL and being parked on a slight hill with the handbrake on in the other pic.

Loving your new toy! Is it actually doing a stoppie in one of those pics?

Some great Cars on here Jim that Rallye Love

Couple of mine.

Ye old track slag (tricky_b's old motor from way back when, made famous in the Haynes trackday manual Whistle)

The everyday Pug which turns its hand to being a rather good and cheap track slag, standard apart from upgraded calipers.

Rarely on track due to it's appetite for tyres, brakes and fuel, but great fun nontheless:

Wouldn't bother, not like my cars going anywhere soon! Not unless you want to use it as an excuse to get drunk.

Oh well, it's still awesome either way!

And yeah, it is; Pflantzgarten 3 on the 'ring!

However, it pales somewhat into insignificance when you look at the pic of Pete that Jim's posted above on the same hump ^^^^^.

All I can say is that he has far big testes than I do! (Plus quite a lot more driving talent!)

Pete, what suspension set up were you running in that vid? Certainly seemed to handle well up until the unfortunate moment!

The pugsport exhaust is basically a Magnex with a few 'strengthening brackets' welded on, that don't really do much. It seemed ok though, bit boomy at cruising speeds, 60-80mph, but nice and quiet at 90mph+ and sounds good when you're giving it some. I had the pugsports on the diablo and the gold one.

They were Bilstein inserts in pugsport casings. I can't remember what I had them built too, but they were good. They were a 205 spec insert so I sent them to bilstein who re-valved them for not much dosh. The rears were Pugsport/Bilstein 306 Grp A shocks. 23.5mm tb and a 30mm ARB. Had zx rear arms with 0 toe. Front springs were made for me by coilsprings.co.uk, they were actually a bit too long but seemed to work well enough. The gold car was basically a Grp A 306 with a standard engine, had some really nice bits on it, like the proper Grp A tubular wishbones and front ARB.

The vid is a bit decieving, for some reason when I changed it from mini DV to whatever format youtube likes it started skipping. It looks like I'm going really quick but the lap is actually a few seconds slower than it appears.
