Alrite chaps,

I have a bolt in rollcage that will be fitted soon, just after a bit of advice for fitting. Do you need to have some plates welded in for the feet to go to?

Also what thickness should they be? Cant be much I'm sure, as the cage is currently resting in place and seems quite a close fit already.

3mm plates, there's also a minimum surface area and number of bolts required.

which cage is it?

Its a Safety Devices one I think. Bought from James88 on here. I will bung a few pics up.

The cage has feet on the end of the legs, but heard you need metal plates welded to the car, and bolt feet to them.

Yeah thats what i meant the weld in feet can be bought separate for when a cage is taken out of 1 car and put in another

My cage is different to that. Goes to rear arches and not floor, and A pillar bars drop down before the dash. It was sold as a SD cage, but Im sure its an OMP one with extra bars Hmm

I'd just make up my own ones, many that come with cages are quite shocking.

Just cut some yourself with a slitting disc, won't take long with some 3mm sheet.

Or find a local fab firm with a metal shear, they'll do you some in about 30 seconds.

Or are you just refering to the rear legs?

That ebay place is cheap enough for the plates, and not sure where round here I could get some 3mm sheet.

What phil said. I work in a heavy fabrication/machine shop and the plates would take seconds. We'd just guilly to size and punch the holes out. Jobs a gooden. If you ask nicely at your local fab shop they may even weld them in if you cross their palm with silver. Smile

Bolt in cages are meant to have plates on the outside of the car, so it sandwiches the car. If you had to weld s**t, it wouldnt be bolt in would it?! I brought a brand new Cusco bolt in for my Nissan btw.
