Both again!
Just swapped the relay back and it started
Turned it off and it wouldn't start!
Tried again and it started
It used to fire instantly, now it takes a second Dunno

I would be surprised if it was the crank sensor as these are not usually intermittant.

When it doesn't start does the fuel pump still prime?

Could it be thy it's dropped a tooth on the flywheel or even some crap making it not read correctly?
I've been told they might use the crank sensor to start then the cam sensor when running??

Cam sensor is used on starting but then redundant once the engine is running. It could well be that, but I haven't seen one of those fail for years.

It's a long shot but worth checking the two plugs under the dash above the the passenger footwell. They can get kicked and come loose. The fuel pump feed is part of that interior loom. It won't cost anything to check. I think one plug is red and the other is brown.

Sounds like an intermittant immobiliser fault, although it is an odd one.

Have you checked your earthing points incase they are causing intermittant faults?

defo not earths, i used jump leads and earthed the battery to the block and the block to the chassis
defo not the double relay (tried 3 and it has ran on all of them today)
all the pins on the ecu look fine

right, got it started and im now home, drove sweet as a nut for all 25 miles

my mate told me to put both jump leads onto the negative of the battery
then put one on the gearbox near the crank sensor and the other onto the top mount of the engine

turned it over and nothing, tried again and it started. so didnt turn it off and drove home

just got back, turned it off, tried again and it started.
i bet it wont start again in 10 mins though Sad

yes mate

tried easy start and it wouldnt fire, it didnt even try to start
then took a plug out after cranking it over and theres no smell of fuel and the plugs were dry

so Dunno

I think I've found the issue Sad
Immobiliser, took the ecu out and swapped it for an unlocked one
It started Thumbs up
So put all the bits back on, then went to start it again
Guess what?? It wouldn't start Sad
So tried another unlocked ecu and it started, I've taken that one off so it's still unlocked

It's got to be immobiliser issues Sad

probably the aerial around the lock barrel, very common on 106's, I think the 306 part is the same.

are they matched to the chip in the key? or is it just a reciever that would work on any car?

It certainly does sound like an immobiliser fault. How exactly have you checked you have no spark?

I disagree. You should have taken a coil and plug out of the head, put the plug back in the coil and then earthed the threads of the plug on the head somewhere. Then got someone else to crank it over whilst you watched to see if the plug was sparking or not. Yes

Ok, well with that diagnosis and the fact you've had it running on two separate unlocked ECU's I would put my money on an immobiliser problem. Can you not just fit the unlocked ECU and keep it on there for a week to test it out?

Yes, it will do when you turn the ignition off the ECU will lock to that system. Yes

Does that same ECU now not work?
