Glad i haven't paid for a membership after that response, also the lack of implementing some great ideas which would be a fantastic addition to the site |

I have a feeling Ash, and obviously in no way am I saying it's what you need to do as we both know it isn't my place to say. I just feel that either you need to make the changes or allow someone else to or eventually someone else will do it elsewhere without your say or the forum will slowly decrease in popularity. Although, you could just do nothing (not saying that's what you are doing) and this could pass and everyone could give up and accept this is how it is. Although I know for certain I wont be paying up again come that time, what's the point? |

matt evans wrote: As for the "angry Mob" phrase - that a charming way to describe the paying members who are striving to improve the site. Shit poor reply in my eyes. Thankyou Ash for taking the time to reply. I do however partially agree with the phrase above. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions and open ends. It is your site, it is your perogative, I understand. The problem being there are members that have paid to join here, as such is it not fair to do the questions a form of justice? Nobody wants to lose this site, I honestly believe that (despite what some say) and you've done it proud to bring it this far. A way forward may now be to contact the people who can help (that you can trust) and go from there. Don't think people want to take this site away, just a bit of help via remote control. To everyone else, I think this thread has reached its logical conclusion now, unless Ash has anymore to say on the subject... ________________________________________ IPhase 3 Astor. 20 pages of useful suggestions Here's how the site works and has always worked. ALL suggestions are ALWAYS listened to, regardless of what people think. Many of them are simply not practical. The rest are discussed with the Admin team, and the best ideas are planned and implemented. I do play the cards close to my chest for a good reason. Even discussion with the admin team takes a long time, if i open everything up to public debate, nothing would ever get done. I understand that people don't feel involved in the decision-making process, but that's how it is. Someone said I have an attitude of "like it or lump it" - a harsh way of describing the decision-making process, but that's how the world works, and I'd be amazed if any sites with more than a few members do anything different. As for the reaction to my angry mob comments ... maybe you need to re-read this thread. All those pages of "If Ash doesn't do what we say let's go somewhere else" ... hardly constructive. Anyhow, my replies are always misinterpreted and ripped to bits, so I'll leave it there. As always, I'll be helping people and working for the good of the club if anyone needs me ________________________________________ quote: Ash is in charge, from afar |

Ash, I'm curious then, does this mean you will be making changes but we won't know about them until they suddenly appear one day in the future? Or does it mean you will continue doing as you are until you have more time?If you do plan on making any changes could you post up info like when you re-wrote the forum please. Even if we aren't allowed to be involved in the decision making, which is fair enough as its your forum, I think everyone would agree that if you were to put up the occasional progress update we would all be happier and would be a step towards rebuilding this great community. As an example, if you were to appoint Stan and a few others as new admin don't do it on the quiet... put up a thread, make a song and dance about it so everyone knows its happening. We are all very grateful to you for everything you've done for this club so far and are not having a go, we are just trying to help. Thankyou for commenting again ________________________________________ supercharged China gti6 - Thu 16th Sep 1999 - sold2010 megane rs250 |

Thing is Ash; the forum is considered a community and people like to feel "part" of it so a wall of silence from the powers that be will become frustrating for the people involved as this thread demonstrates. All it takes is a little communication and you have managed pacify the natives |

ok well i think this has come to a sweet conclusion.some positive action has been taken, we have two new admins. everyone has said their piece and everything has been covered. nothing more can be achieved out of this thread now. this thread should now be closed, and the dust allowed to settle whilst stan and jeffers take their new posts on board and try and handle all the password resets etc. we can start this again when appropriate stan/jeffers...make your mark...lock this thread...do it...come on...do it...show us you mean business...treat us rough...we like it like that...come on...do it.. i dare you...yes...yes...yes...! |

Thread doesn't need to be locked. If all goes well and is magically fixed and changes made, there'll be no need for anyone to reply.________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

captainash wrote: Every day I get around 20 emails asking for password resets, login problems and username changes, and every one of these gets a reply Im pretty new here and stuff, but surely this is the point of a "team", that the work is shared around rather than taken on by one person. On SXOC we have the best part of 40 odd staff members, consisting of a committee of 7, then head moderators, lesser mods, event organisers, a marketing team (for blogs and stuff), membership team ........ you get the picture. Driftworks has just appointed an extra 4 moderators as the workload was getting too much for the guys they had, things have already improved over there too. From what Ive seen and read, it seems the major frustration is the impression that no-one is listening to feedback ...... if youve only got 3 people running a site this big thats hardly surprising. Bring in more mods and you wont have to worry about the monkey work of chasing down porn and doing password resets, youll probably find the whole experience of being admin becomes more enjoyable with it. ________________________________________ Lots of Nissans, two 306 GTI-6's.
