Music to my ears! oh yes

just trying to work out some times on this, ive heard that low boost will do 0-60 in the high 5s and seeing as your speedo is 100% accurate and as far as i can tell from that video does 60-100 in around 9s is it fair to say then that low boost will give a 0-100 time in the region of 15s?

I'd think they'd be a little quicker than that to 100mph tbh. I'd say more like 14 seconds ish depending on how well you get it off the line.

I thought it'd be low 13's over a quarter mate. Even my little plastic car is supposed to do it quicker than 13.8 seconds (apparently) I read something like 13.2 somewhere or other on the standard tyres - Yoko AD07's or something like that. With AD08's (Lotus spec) it's reputed to be 0.2 seconds quicker to 60 and to 100. So that'd be 4.7 and 12.8. If Lotus figures are to be believed LOL

Andy - The engine mounts I am using are Group N top and gearbox mounts, and Group A lower mount.

Plenty of vibration. Big grin

I think I'm expecting the same refinement in the 6 after all the mods that I get in the st tdci mondeo.
And it's just not going to happen lol

The low boost cars are around 5.5s to 60, which is roughly the same as a Bmw 335i, I had a play with one on a country road and it was very evenly matched when I was low boost,

As for comfort and noise levels etc, I have gone the other way with my car, I have put the quietest exhaust on that I could find -still 2.5 inch but with huge silencers and it is pretty quiet unless gunning it, I have also put a standard clutch on it as did not like the Helix one, engine mount wise I have a standard top mount with welded chocks, a Peugeot sport gearbox mount and a Baker bm bottom mount, I did have a powerlex bottom mount and it was fine (no splits or anything) but did move a bit,

The Baker mount is a bit noisy on tick-over but does seem to be getting quieter as I get a few miles on it but is fine once you are moving and the gear-change is lovely, I may go back to a genuine standard bottom mount turned horizontally to eliminate movement if the Baker mount does my head in,

The suspension is Bilstein B4's up front, genuine pug rears, RichW roller wishbones, Eibach springs with 21mm torsion bars at rear and a 28mm Arb in the beam, all rolling on Team Dynamics 1.2,s wrapped in Michelin Pe2,s

The result is a car that is very comfortable, not too noisy, fast and very nice to drive Smile

It does sound like it will be a nice drive save, I keep thinking of going for standard clutch but not sure about how long it would last, I think the duel mass flywheel helps with the refinement in the mondeo.

Andy - Standard clutch would withstand the BHP but not the torque produced by the C38 series superchargers. There literally is no point in doing that.

I imagine the force will massive at some points, for example it's spinning in 3rd at 6500 rpm then it finds grip and grips suddenly, the g force at that moment is absolutely huge, was making me think about the force going through the gearbox at that moment!

You still have the standard diff don't you Andy?, think fitting a Quaiffe would be advantageous to you in terms of strength etc, bar shot peening the box, I'm with Stan on the lightened flywheel though, think it would have been better to keep yours but then suppose you have more power and a lot more torque than me, I fitted a RichW lighter flywheel and would not go back to standard now,

I plan on fitting a quaiffe but I may get a genuine low mileage box to fit it too, I bought mine and the lad lied because it's not as good as he said, it's ok I suppose except the change to 5th is notchy

Try a gearbox that did 2k miles in my ownership with no gear oil as the drain plug had been left loose by the Previous owner Smile Lets just say that 1 and 2 are slightly notchy and that the input shaft makes one hell of a noise Big grin

I spent £860 to have the gearbox stripped, all bearings replaced, Quaiffe diff fitted (supplied to gearbox builder), all gears shotpeened and coated and all rebuilt ready to fit in car.
