Just bought another GTi6. Surprise Surprise!!!! Another one haha. Its a tapper, Really bad one. i have put it down to a bent or snapped valve but my question is where do i get new valves and lifters? Euro car parts use to sell them but dont look like they do any more.

I will have the head off tomorrow so will no then what it is and how many i need if any.

I can supply new valves if required Smile

I also have numerous sets of known good (but used) hydraulic lifters in stock.

You want to get the valves properly checked out, in cases tapping valves look straight to the eye, and appear straight when spun up in a drill, but are ever so slightly bent when spun up on a lathe or valve grinding machine.

Thanks rich, i will do. need to get the head off 1st to see if that is the problem as the knock is very loud on acceleration but then when i let off it seems to stop/ get quiet.

How much are the valves each and the lifters each?

Thanks

Buy an engine that runs mate as we all know the thread, I'm eddy_gti6 I buy running cars and kill them....

Get a project thread up mate as will be easier for when you break it for spares in a couple if weeks!!

Just bought a cheapish one for now, to see me through. Going to rebuild the engine that is in the aston now over the next couple of weeks i think. Been looking at a polished and ported head i might get, its bear so will need all new valves and lifters ect so will be a brand new head there then will just need to see rich_w about shells ect... then should hopefully have a mint new engine ready to go back in for the summer.
Need to set up my membership and i will get a project started up. Already bought a few things for it and it has a hideous ecosse spoiler on :/ haha

Its not bad, couple marks on the front wings and has that awful spoiler on what will be coming off at some point but other than that it seems spot on. Spent too much money on other parts this week instead of getting my engine sorted haha. Just been onto rich_w for uprated shells and a reground crank to suit so i can rebuild my engine and have that as a spare while i wait for the other engine to turn up so i can get than banged straight in.

You spotted me once going down to chester-le-street A1 roundabout in my Astor last year I think Wink

I'll hunt it out. If I remember correctly, you reversed in and I didn't... thus ruining the picture haha

My gf has a picture if I can't find it Smile
