Hi there, i know i might just be being abit paranoid because i have only recently bought my 6 but needed some feedback from people in the know so let me explain.

i was driving the car back from the gym only about a mile or so away from home when all of a sudden the steering went very hard/heavy whilst going round a corner. On later inspection i discovered the connecting hose to the power steering fluid bottle had developed a tinny split and had leaked out the entire contence of the bottle!

I have repaired the hose as best i can with sealent tape and refilled the bottle and obviously plan to get it fixed asap. the only thing i'm worried about is if any damage was done to the pump so would like peoples opinions on what to look out for if this is the case.

Please dont rag me as i am taking this seriously purely because i want to keep my 306 as in mint condition as possible.
Smile

I welcome everyones input cheerz

I actually bought this gti6 off this site and was originally owned by roland rat before its most recent owner and then me

Doubtful you will have damaged the pump, even if you have they are about £20 second hand anyway.

No big issue.

Pump should be fine, rather amusing when the bearings do collapse and spray the whole engine bay with a substance that smells like period! Even funnier when you then try to drive home with said pump and it falls out on the M40.

Shame about the milkfloat incident with yours though, was a lovely car! Should be a good repair though!

I drove mine with no fluid from Dover to Doncaster before i had chance to sort it out, it also did about 30 miles on a track with no fluid.
Still on same pump and it's still going strong so i wouldnt worry too much if i was you. Smile
