hi there so ive currently got a 306 verve (1.4) with a few performance mods the usual stuff exhaust, forced induction etc.. and wondered if anyone had any advice on an engine change looking at dropping a 1.6 in and would like to know if i could still use the same gearbox, drive shafts, suspension i know ill have to upgrade the brakes slightly but would it drop in? also i have a turbo and would like to know if anyone has turbo'd the 306 1.6L?many thanks Phil. ________________________________________ i may own a 1.4 but i give as good as i get at traffic lights >_< |

1.4 vs 1.6 - would not even bother swapping it all over. they are both painfully slow. just buy a gti6 for £800 or whatever they go for nowadays________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Don't waste your time/money/effort. Both are pretty dire for performance, unless you've got 9 points and you're looking for something so dull you'd never get the urge to break the speed limit. ________________________________________ Ph1 306 GTi 6 | RX8 231 S1 | YBR 125 Cafe Racer | MT-03 660 |

As stated, don't bother. I just waiting a couple years until the insurance was reasonable and went from a 1.4 to a 6. Shame the 6 doesn't have the same reliability as my old 1.4 but ahh well! |

Best advice would be "give up dude" If want a pacey small engined vehicle then get a motorbike. ________________________________________ Aka ManstonerAka Clio dumper Aka PrinceofPeugeot Aka Decat raspberrys |

I did it with a Lambo once, stuck a 1.1 engine in it. It bought my insurance down a lot, but it was still fairly high just because it was a Lambo. In the end I actually ended up spending more then if I had just kept the car standard due to the conversion and I was forced to declare myself bankrupt. I had to scrap the car as no one wanted a Lambo with a 1.1 engine in it. |

I thought it was a good idea at the time, but I was getting done at the lights by chavs in 1.2 Corsa's and it got really annoying but it still looked nice. |

My friend did a similar thing. He bought a hayabusa and put a moped engine in it. It was actually very fast, for a 50cc, but sounded shite. ________________________________________ For we are many.PS£ ID: Monkey369 |
