A few months a friend had 1 made up for his 6 but due to him loosing interest in the car he didnt go and collect it, the fabricator who has made it contacted me to see if i wanted it, anyway we got talking and he said he could make more of them i trial fitted the 1 he had on my rallye and it needed trimming, got a call this morning to say its ready to try again

This 1 is costing me £80 but he says he could do them cheaper if there were 5+ so if i was to say they would cost around £85 inc delivery (delivery £9 p2go)just to get interest, iirc a new 1 from peugeot is £110+VAT

Not sure if he's made this 1 out of SS or alloy will find out tomorrow

that is because they are fire proof, i looked into getting some made up a few years back and it was expensive if i remember correctly 55 for ally ones and 75 from stainless and the stainless ones would have welded seams in. i concluded that this would be too much for most. But as mentioned that was a few years back and vat has changed sionce so i wouldimagine it would be dearer now

it is nice to see someone taking this up again as it is a major eye sore when they look tatty under the bonnet. the engineer guy i used also mentioned about temperatures around the manifold area rising with stainless if i recall. i am sure it will be ok as there is a company that makes loads of shiney stuff for 106s under the bonnet.
the back nut is also very hard to get to with the engine in but i am sure i have done it in the past as i defo changed one of them over my ownership of my gti6

Dropping it off the top mount gives a bit more clearance no? Obviously with inlet off (bloody thing, no trouble with the derv!)

Listed at approx. £75 I think, but they're NFP now so unless you find a dealer with one on the shelf a new one isn't an option any more.

IIRC I paid £45 for a new one in 2006.

by creasing them and forming them into one shape, ie from flat sheet, but that might be tougher than you think [trying to work it out from the photo, i imagine it's do-able though]

It would drive up costs though due to more labour to make, and i think the idea is that it is cheaper than the standard pug one!

Looks a good 70mm or so shorter than a standard one, which goes right down to the cat heat shield and the steering UJ. The lower bolts are around the height at which that one stops.

Also, I'd test fit it on a '6 to make sure it doesn't foul the AC pipes.

Good shout Rich didnt think about the aircon pipes on a 6, the lower holes havent been drilled yet as last time i was there the sheild was to deep and needed cutting but the 1s that will be made will have bolt holes, fitting will be straight foward when i trial fitted it on mine a few months back it slid down nicely my manifold is heavily wrapped but if it is a slight problem remove the lower engine mount while on a trolley jack and lower slightly this will give extra clearance to fit

5 orders = £85 each Inc P+P
or
10 orders = £80 each Inc P+P

P+P is UK mainland only

I'm hoping to get the order in for 14th Janurary so everyone interest if you could make payment before then he says turn around time will be 2-3 weeks so 2nd week in Feb at the latest arriving with you

With a big press tool yeah, but nobody is going to the trouble of making a die for such a small batch.
