Had my DVLA car tax reminder come through the door todayThumbs down

IIRC £245 a year last year for me, this year its shot up to £260 a year (or £143odd /6mnths)

Only when it hits £300 a year will I think about buying a 1999/2000 registered 6, but surely we're paying enough tax on the fuel these cars use alone let alone the road tax

BIGThumbs down

Next stop car service that is now just over 1000miles overdue. Then MOT Jan/Feb time. Roll eyes

Tough times but light at the end of the tunnel....I'm still smiling when I'm driving the 6 Love

It's not No

It's the price you pay wanting a car that "appears" to be newer than the rest of them Roll eyes

It's called vehicle excise duty. It's vehicle tax, not road tax.

Road tax doesn't go to fixing roads, it just goes into the big pot of money like all the rest.

To give to Greece.

And possibly Italy.

But what about the cost of converting it to electric like you promised?

You will f*ck it off for the sake of £80 a year? I've put nearly £300 in fuel in mine in the last month.

f*ck off and man up you knob scoffer - either pay it or do one Thumbs up

too true. Taxed on what you earn. Taxed on what you spend. And taxed on what you own. Gotta love our country. Will we ever see sense and pull out of the eu. It would be a start for improvement

Really Jamma? Based on what information exactly? The fact that you don't like bailing out other EU countries? Tell me, before the bail out funds were raised and the economy collapsed, did your council tax/road tax/fuel tax/VAT etc go any significant way to visibly improve your standard of living? It's hardly like the bail outs have affected any of us, i've barely noticed an increase in my spending over the last couple of years apart from the fact I now have a dependent. If we weren't part of the EU do you really think that all this tax would be dropped all of a sudden? Naw, if anything it would plateau for a couple of years and then continue to go up again when the economy can't support itself due to lost subsidies and relationships with other EU member countries.

It's like the Scottish wanting independence from the UK and, more specifically, the English. Hooray, pride of the nation etc etc but the logistics of it just don't work.

Doesn't really matter, Scotland will never get independence while there is still oil in the North Sea (and while they still have the secret ingredient to Irn Bru)

£245 -> £260 = 4p per day increase over 12 months, not exactly a bank breaker. Throw a £20 note at it and spend the change on forum membership = win-win.

at what point did i mention anything about the year or my car was constructed? And £15 odd car tax increase might not seem much to you. But for people who looks after their pennies like me its another £150 I've got saved over 10 years. Every pound makes all the difference
