I said a while back that if Admin weren't omnipresent deleting/moving threads that aren't posted in the correct sections then it makes a total farce of charging people to use the site. Why would you sign up and pay when you can ask a Technical question for free in General (and usually get a response). Either you charge everyone or nobody imo, you can't do it 50/50 but with the lack of Admin/mods around here I doubt anything will change in a hurry...________________________________________ 340 horses |

Having happily paid I would like to see the forums used correctly. Tech threads in tech forums and general for normal discussions.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Other forums I have used in the past have had mods online pretty much constantly. If you're paying a fee I guess you should expect this as part of the service, otherwise what exactly have all you who've paid your monies actually paid for? ________________________________________ 340 horses |

I think this thread pretty much answered it's own question. The information on this site is free. Always has been, always will be. You search for it, you find it. Doing this stops the same questions being asked over and over again, cluttering up the site and making the real information harder to find. If you've just bought a GTi-6 then you'll be asking a lot of questions, so the membership is well worth having. If you don't own a GTi-6, then you're more than welcome to use the General and Off-Topic forums, leaving the technical discussions to those who need it. ________________________________________ quote: Ash is in charge, from afar |

Which I like the idea off. But people are just posting in general all the time. Negating the need for a paid site and cluttering up the general section with tech questions.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

You could always click the 'report this thread' link. If 5 people report a thread, it gets removed.________________________________________ quote: Ash is in charge, from afar |

As mentioned above though, seeing as a lot of the members that would usually give advice have choosen not to pay the new members wont get the answers they need if they ask in the correct section. I really think you should consider having some sort of reply only status on the tech forums, I can see the thinking behind the way you have done it but I cant see how it's ever going to work Tbh. Aswell as everyone reporting the threads in the wrong place people should report the members that ruin all the threads with their so called "banter" so they can be banned and remove the actual problem rather than try to block it out. A good few threads (this one included with mature comments like Scrompy's) are still heading the same way as all the old ones used to and it's still being caused mainly by long standing members, the only differences being they are now also in the wrong section and ruining it for people that have paid. ________________________________________ Ryan |
