Just throwing this out there, and i'm sure it will probably open a can of worms that i'm not going into, surely someone blatantly using the site for personal gain should be expected to pay some kind of membership level?

In Pugplus' case he had a lot to say about the parts for sale forum yet hasn't bothered to contribute to the site costs. Bit unfair in my eyes, surely only paying members should be able to sell parts? Not aimed just at Rich but is a valid point for a few people i think....

Main reason I paid my membership. Doesn't look good if you sign up purely to punt goods. Espicially if you are CR Spares and half the parts go 'missing' in the post LOL

Personally i'd like to see free members able to reply to threads to express an interest but only able to post new threads if membership has been paid for. Makes sense imo.

I agree, the traders and people constantly selling should have to pay membership at "gold" or higher

    Shut up ^^

I love a good witch hunt. Keep them coming.

Now must be the time to clear out all my parts. Who wants to buy the remains of 8 6's that I've got? Good price for someone who wants to buy the lot.

    Perfect person would be dangti6.....

it might be a good idea to have a special traders registration with company adverts and links to their websites. and while im on id just like to say i think ash has done an awesome job with the site and idiots want to stop slagging off his efforts. you think you could make and run a site as good as this 1. id like to see you try

This thread sums up exactly what i'm on about. Instead of paying a membership fee he's distributing his business/personal (delete as appropriate Roll eyes) email address to people and evidently doing quite well for himself, rather than paying up and using his PM's. This isn't Gumtree FFS.

Completely agree, £20 a year is f*ck all to pay for unlimited selling privileges with no commission or fees to pay.

Definitely should have to be a member to sell, if not a top-whack member.

^ Russ, they don't need to have any level of paid membership to do so.

There was never anything in the membership level structure when pubished to state that selling was restricted to paying members. So it is at members discretion whether they would like to become a paid member or not.

If you want to post in the techincal sections, or obtain a larger inbox and enter competitions - pay the membership.

I don't personally have the need for these perks, so I don't pay the membership. It's entirely at the members discrection if they want to.

With all the changes this site has been through, I quite like the fact you aren't forced to pay.

Lots of people have become paid members because they wanted to, and can make use of the techincal sections and other perks as required when they chose the level of membership they wanted.

Selling restrictions never came into it, so you can't look down on un-paid members when the membership levels make no mention of restrictions.

What you can do (and you are I think, the above was to make a point) is argue that they should have been in there. But I think for Ash to swap and change what is/isn't included when people have already selected and chosen a membership is a bit iffy. People may have chosen to pay for one level - and restrictions could be moved in and out of this which would be unfair. The only fair way to go about it would be to review the membership levels upon a time of renewal next year.

The only fair way to do it is review the paid up membership side of things next year
anybody that isn't a paid up member that's on here to just sell and not contribute to the forum should be barred from starting for sale threads or replying to wanted adverts
I don't think none paying members should have a signature which would allow them to advertise email addresses or any other form of contact about parts.
Thats not directly meant for you dan, as PP does the same!

I still browse the technical section and will PM people guidance if it goes unanswered as i obviously can't post in the thread directly. Most of the time it goes without a thanks, and I don't want to pay to give information. As I mentioned, currently there are no benefits from any of the paid levels.

If I need to ask for any, i'l pay, or use google LOL

PP is another conversation so we won't go into that in here.

anyone making a regular gain from selling parts on the forum should pay for membership. It might not be the rules but its morally correct. I hardly sell any parts now, but still thought it was only right for me to contribute to the fourm by paying membership. If it wasnt for the forum we would not be selling anything to its members.

Correct, poor membership system which I made the decision not to upgrade due to not needing to. The point I was making is that someone who paid said say the £5, then was told that the selling rights only applied to £10 and above, it wouldn't sit well and should have been decided from the introduction.

You don't need to link my started threads to point out that I've advertised many items as i've never denied I predominantly post to sell on here.

Many of the regular sellers on here are longstanding members who also chose not to pay as there is no requirement to.

I paid the £10 as I have used this place to buy ans sell and get info so thought it was right to give something back ? I thought the membership fees was brought about for the upkeep and maintenance of the site ?
