Out of intrest, what sort of power does the throttle bodies kick out?

This depends on other engine work. On the standard engine throttle bodies will give some gains, perhaps 15-20 bhp, this however can be doubled with the addition of a pair of relatively mild camshafts such as Catcams 4903109 which can be viewed on our online shop; Expect 205-210 bhp with both mods.

Camshafts are at the heart of any naturally aspirated engine build, they create the added potential for extra air flow, then you have to consider whether other parts will allow the fitment of the cams (not applicable at this level) and also whether the intake and exhaust system will limit the flow of gases.

This is where the throttle bodies are useful. Individual throttle bores remove disruptions of gases associated with a plenum chamber, expecially with increased cam duration. Also the smooth finish and curved horn design is critical to improving the scavenging effect that the inlet has on the atmospheric gases. Shape and length is also important when developing an engine but we could go on and on.

I hope this answers your question, I would certainly always recommend using cams in conjunction with throttle bodies to get the best gains.
