Author Subject: Strange front castor and rear beam toe

Hi, I've had a proper alignment check and i dont understand what could
Be the cause of the results.
The rear end is toing out too far but I havnt a
Clue what could Cause this at all, the beam is freshly built and the camber on it is perfect.
Also the p/s front castor
Is
Slightly out, it's as tho the p/s wheel is sitting back slightly compared to the d/s, I can only think that this could be the subframe as everything else is perfect.
Are the castor angles too low?
Does anybody have any ideas, I'm going highboost soon so I really do need it to be right.

I wouldn't worry about the difference in castor so much as the outright value.

replaced a top mount at all? they are different for non-PAS iirc.

The pins the rear wheel hubs sit on can bend given enough of a hit. I've bent a few but don't think I did any on road driving, except for one, but then I bent the beam tube on that one LOL

As for the front, I'd imagine p-bushes and top mounts would be the main culprits.

Everything is brand new on it, that's what I can't work out,
Is there a noticeable difference in the non ps mounts an the ps mounts, Im wodering if they have supplied the wrong mounts, but they looked identical before I fitted them

I'm guessing on the PAS mounts the top will sit slightly further towards the windscreen. No idea by how much though.

the only thing i can think of is that the woshones are on the wrong sides, ive been tolf there the same but i certain they came with different part numbers. this is only thing that i could of gone wrong with but they looked the same as the old ones and both sides look the same.
as for the rear, the only thing i can think that it is is the trailing arms.

they wont fit on the wrong side.

nothing wrong at all with the rear end, its the front castor angle that isnt in spec.

If it's got ZX arms the toe-in at the rear is right, they don't have any.

Wishbone's won't fit on the wrong side without taking the P-bush off, and they will fit either side anyway once it's off, so it's not that.

What front struts are on there?

I removed the p bushes from some new genuine wishbones as I wanted the car perfect, and fitted richw roller bearings, struts are b8 bilsteins.
Rear end feels strange althogh i will leave that until front is right then re assess it, but the rear end doesn't feel right to me aswell as the front.
0 toe probably isn't a bad thing but I'm not confident in the way it feels

I'm getting so frustrated now, I've put 3 years of money and time into this to be able to enjoy it and I can't stand driving it, I hate it I just don't know what to do anymore

Say if the rack was turned out from centre, and the tracking was put right with the tr ends and then the steering wheel removed and straightened up to central, would this mess everything up?
As there seems more right turn than before.

if thats for definate then that is defiantly my problem as the first place i had it temp tracked before the 4 wheel check and track, i said the steering wheel will need moving as the mark had been rubbed off, and did he f*ck move it he just adjusted the bars.
is there a way to do it all back like it should be?
and would this make the car steer like a pig and effect the castor readings?

all you need to do is make sure both track rods are the same length, measure from the locknut to the hub carrier, counting threads doesnt really work as the castings vary.

just a thought but could i have fitted the struts to the wrong sides, could this be causing the castor to be out?

I've checked part numbers and there fitted to the correct sides that is if the p/s is the
Left!
Would the b8's change the castor over standard?
