hi there chaps

so i know its been asked before probably but i just thought id see what peoples oppinions are on this nowadays.

i own a very good nick (no lies lol) stock gti-6 and im realy glad i went for it over the rallye, as i just dont think i could loose so many of the mod cons that the rallye does, guess i like my gagets. however the one thing i do like are thos side door strips the rallye spec cars have, just like the extra flare it ads to the car.

so youve guessed it heres the question. as we are the GTi-6 and rallye owners club, would it be a massive sin to accent my GTi-6 badges on the side doors with some rallye strips under them. as i just like thos decals, but i also like my ac and sunroof etc to much to buy a rallye! lol

iv already got the club stickers in the rear windows that feature both the six bagde and the rallye strips in colour (got them form here someware i while back), so thought it would carry that theme on a bit.

just like peoples thoughts on this to see if its socaily acceptable or if im likly to be firebombed! after all its not like im putting rallye/6 badges on a derv now is it!

It's your car mate. Try it and see if you like it. The purists will say that those stripes are meant to distinguish the Rallye trim only as they do on other pugs, but on other models like the 106 and 205 there are far more differences between the GTi and the Rallye than you get in the 306.

    It's not that people really feel strongly about it (or at least I don't), it's just that I think it's a bit weird.

    "Check out my 318, it's got an M3 sticker on it!"
    "But I thought you said it was a 318?"
    "It is, but it's got an M3 sticker on it!"
    "Why?"
    "I don't know, I can only imagine I'm a bit of a tool".

    If you want graphics by all means do it, I just wouldn't go for ones that have inaccurate meaning to them as it means you'll just always be having the same conversation when everyone comments on your "Rallye".

    Difficult though if the car you bought has been, like my old impreza. Took it off all the same as I didn't want 'that' conversation.

    Yeah, I know what you mean. When I sold my old Coupe I removed the sticker so the next buyer *didn't* know I'd been, but then I felt left out so I had it tattooed on my face.

    yea i know what you meen, surly its not as bad as ur m3 story tho. after all it is the same car just with more class and gagets lol. ie same engine, power, brakes, gears, springs etc after all a rallye is just a 6 with all the stuff ripped off, not that much different (for poor people) lol thats a joke by the way!

    unlike putting a m3 badge on a 1.8 shit box thats not even in the same league as a m3 so you would be a massive tool!

    its would only be the door strips. no rallye decals or any other bits just the strips

    i was unaware that dead people were allowed driving licence's does this meen the dvla will no come around and nick mine! oh no!

    No, you're meant to send it back to them as your life is flashing before your eyes.

    No, clearly there is no law stopping you from putting Rallye decals on your car. But you asked for opinions and now you have them Wink

    The fact remains it's not a Rallye. It should therefore not try and pretend to be.

    yea thanks for the opinions chaps, its what i thought would be said to be fair, actually i was expecting more ambuse, forum seems to have been surprisingly kind surprisingly.

    does this meen then to insure im not firebombed by purists that i have to take off the club stickers as they feature a small rallye strip on it lol,

    also purists does this also neen i have to remove my sunroof as even a 6 shouldnt realy have one unless its a very late one phase 3.5 or summit like that, is that unpure as well then lol

    Mine was Phase 1 and had a sunroof Dunno

    Notice I say "had" as I manned up and had it welded up.

    ph1 with a sunroof lol where did they pikey that from lol

    i like to think the sun roof is a back up plan as pug new the ac would break!

    as mine is the only french sunroof in the known world that doesnt leak il be keeping it where it is. and using it as a plan b until i find the £400 to fix the AC...

    realy? that sounds rather omminous, fold as in what the roof bends and smashes it or summit?

    I just got rid of mine as it's extremely heavy and high up, and takes up about 3" of headroom which you need if your helmet is as bulbous as mine.
