Take a look in the projects section at some other build threads, even midlife's will do Whistle, to get an idea.

Sounds interesting and would like to see more

Having spent a couple of evenings playing in the shed I have fitted the suspension to the front and rear ready to get the shell rolling.

I have had to use spacers so that the wheels I have will fit without rubbing on the suspension. Because of this I got studs and wheel nuts to replace the bolts. However due to the studs coming undone sometimes I welded them to the back of the hub. Not sure it was a good idea but seems to have done the trick!

having painted the underside of the shell I was more than a little dissapointed by the appearance of the old parts. So I brought a sand blaster to tidy them up. Results to follow. Would appreciate advice on best paint to use on the clean parts though please.

(This ball joint had grown legs and was planning on escaping!)

I then went on to look at installing the gear lever.

I have rose jointed couplings that are from the doner car. I also bought a quickshift from a forum member.

Before I could install the gear lever though I had to remove the existing plastic location ball and plastic sleaves from the gear stick. Not easy! Even though they had already cracked I had to grind the plastic off

When it was cleared it was looking ready for installation.

Then it all went wrong! Either I have brought a bad part or there is something not right with the play in this coupling!!!

The gear lever is not the same diameter as the opening in the quickshift. Any ideas on making this work?

I decided to fit the new lightened flywheel from Rich. Great product and nice guy to deal with
