A friend of mines got one of them, and without sounding rude it isn't fast and is generally shit. He always wished he'd bought a compressor instead because with a bit more power it would be a good car, but he never knew they existed when he got his.

On the plus side they look smart and are dead reliable, apart from his partner opening it up like a tin can on the driveway gate he's not had a touch of bother in the time he's had it. It's ferried us all over the place with the bikes, and it revs so high it makes its own gravity which is a laugh.

I had an S2000 the other day Yes
Then he changed down two gears at the next roundabout LOL

How much is left to do on the Rallye, barring dampers Ninja

I guess he was of the opinion that when he got it he thought it was pretty fast, but then when he started pulling against other cars and generally playing about with other traffic he was getting burnt off quite a lot LOL

Bearing in mind its 190 odd BHP his mind was blown when he went in my girlfriends 225bhp A3 the other day, couldn't get over how much quicker it was than his Rollaskate.

I say all of this, I don't dislike them at all. In fact I think they are pretty cool, mainly because they are different and in the right hands I'm sure they could be quite a laugh.

This is how his one ended up though, silly girlfriends...

We all used to joke because I once turned his TRD badges into TURD badges and he drove it to work for a week before noticing.

That is just the one photo he put on facebook, the front and rear wings had been opened like a tin can too.

Midlife - I work for Toyota and we still see these in for servicing. Our mastertech has one with a TTE exhaust on and its lovely. Very underated cars, and even now hold decent money. The earlier ones like yours are almost stealth like - later ones had a slightly awkward body kit on them.

After quite a bit of saving up I've now bought:-
Uprated -30mm front & -45mm rear springs (from Larkspeed 2 month wait!!)
Toyo T1R's 205-55-16 tyres (eBay bargain)
Oe spec front & rear discs (eBay bargain)
DS2500 front pads (from tweeks)
Stainless braided flexi hoses (from Fensport)
Progress 24mm rear arb (from monkey wrench racing in the USA)
I just need to sweet talk Monty69 to fit them all..
Fingers crossed these tweaks should improve the chassis enough to be able to start using all 203 horsies on the twistiesNinja

Cool

They are 190 bhp as standard, Fitting a £190 induction kit is well known to give an additional 10 to 15 bhp on this engine. I found out mine made 203 at the NW RR day, I was well chuffedNinja

That's interesting cause I fitted a TRD to the Lotus the other week. Lorus specialists won't change from a TRD if one is fitted as they as good if not better than after market induction kits.
I only did it for the noise tho. It sounds REALLY fast now especially with the roof off. The inlet is about 3 foot from your left ear Ninja

Iirc Lotus use a bespoke engine management system that is supposed to produce slightly more power than the one in the Corolla. It's a shame really as I'm sure there has been a lot more work put into the Lotus maps.
I'm happy with the power delivery now that I'm getting used to only having a 2000rpm powerband to play with, if you change gear 200rpm early it can have a dramatic effect on your momentum due to the lack of torque & power below 6200rpm.
It's nowhere near a drivable as the Rallye was but I'm working on itNinja

Cool

In a straight line I'd say the corolla just edges over a 6/Rallye, on the twisties the corolla doesn't stand a chance. Hopefully my mods will even things up a little.
Boot space is fine but I can't comment about when the seats are down.

Cool

Not sure about more power - they claim the same 190bhp. However with so little weight (860kgs against 1200+ for yours) its quite quick off cam too so even tho you can fall out of the power band, it's still quite quick.

On the last meet I went on I had a play with a 111s (155bhp K series) Off cam they're pretty much identical but once it changed over I found myself lifting.

Any thoughts of supercharging it? I'd imagine if they fit in the lotus they'd fit in yours? Anything upto 715bhp is possible providing you have deep enough pockets. Search YouTube for "Ronin exige" and you'll see what I mean Ninja

Well, I had a bad & a good day today.
I took the Corolla to:-
Montgomery Autos
Lenches Rd,
Colne,
BB8 8ET
01282 859862
Monty69 off here.....
Plan of attack was for him to fit my new goodies & I would borrow his 106 to go to work in. Everything went well & I set off in the 106. I thought I'd be nice & stick some fuel in so I went to asda but I wasn't sure if it was petrol or diesel so I rang Dave but no answer, I thought it can't be a diesel so put £10 of petrol in. I drove to the cabin to pay, wound the window down & what's that I hear..... Yes that old familiar diesel rattle!!!! Ohhhh what a cock I am, to cut a long story short I ended up filling the tank up with diesel and all is well (fingers crossed).
Some of the bits ready for fitting.

First to be fitted was the Progress rear anti roll bar.

Next up were the uprated & lowered springs.

Next new discs.

Dave looking tiredThumbs up

DS2500's fittedNinja

Last up were the Fensport stainless braided hoses, no pics of these though as the rush was on to get the brakes bled & get it back on it's wheels....

Before

After

All I can say is that the change is phenomenal, zero body roll & it now stops on a dime!!!
I can't wait to to give it some grief on the twisties this weekend!!
Thank you very much Dave!!!!!

Cool
