Well, The rebuild is taking a lot longer than expected on the Rallye & it's costing a fortune, also the ashtray is completely full in my Astra van..

I'm f*cked off, Astra diesel power just isn't floating my boat!
I went out on a bit of an impulse today & bought a Toyota Corolla T-Sport. FTSH, 51,000 miles, 03 plate, Silver for £3000..... Yes it's the 1800cc 190 bhp jobbie
I pick it up next Saturday, I'll let you know how I get on!

Cool

I quite like those corollas, pressumably the same VVT engine as the Celica 190?

Wanna quit smoking? Get a Rallye.

Disclaimer: A 306 Rallye is not guaranteed to stop you smoking. Can be vastly more expensive and may be worse for your health.

Laugh my ass off

I'll try and sort some pricing out asap as there's a couple of people wanting some race units fetching across too.
And there might be a crate with a sequential coming across too Ninja

phil, how cowe sequential gboxes are so damn expensive. i noticed the other day that ferrari have crammed one onto a fiat 500 adding near on 25 k to the asking price of the damn car.
x trac want in the region of 18k for one that only guarantees up to 280 hp but the ones you bolt onto them buggy things seem to handle 400 + and they are cheaper?

Because they make them from melted down drain covers and don't have to fit them into small hatchbacks Ninja

A sadev transverse sequential that'd cope with an n/a 2.0 pug engine is around 14k afaik, the ones used on the high spec n-a TU5's in 106's and saxo's aren't much cheaper.

i did a bit of research a while back, even sat down in reception of xtrac with a guy and 14k was doing me a favour when the euro was crap but 18 k is what they f etch and need rebuilding pretty much every event !!!
sadev ones seem cheaper but seem to handle more power

Sadev ones are very conservatively rated tbh - they will handle a lot more but they do need regular servicing if so (not every event, but a service every 6 months) as parts will start to fatigue.

Plus, we get Sadev's direct and generally fetch a few over at once, which saves a chunk of cash.

The buggies are also running 4x4 boxes that sit in the cabin, so they're pretty small and light as the differentials are seperate, unlike a FWD 'box. You add a pair of billet diffs at a grand a piece and a load of hardened S155 propshafts + splined ends and the price does go up somewhat.

To fetch a 5 speed sequential over for the little 2wd it's going to be in the region of £8-9k

Cheers Owain!
Went for a blast in it last night & fookin hell it's quick in a straight line! Unfortunatly round the twisties is a different matter, it's like driving a bus there is sooo much body roll.
Brakes seem quite good, traction control is weird, it applies brake to the spinning wheel so the diff transmits more drive to the wheel with grip, sort of like an electronic LSD if you know what I mean.
I'll keep you all posted on if I start to like the package once the lowering springs have been fitted.

Cool
