I am keeping my engine for a 205 swap in the future, and want to make sure I am doing this the right way.

I have removed the ECU with the engine running and 'unlocked' it.

Now I presume I need the transponder box to use in the 205?

If so, do I need to plug the ECU back in and get it running so I can remove the transponder while its running?

I want to make sure I do it the right way LOL

No need for the transponder unit and its associated components in the 205 if you have "unlocked" the ecu, all you have to do to place the ecu in the unlocked state is to disconnect the battery, ecu or transponder with the ignition on.

If you wanted to you could fit the wiring, transponder unit and ignition barrel aerial into the 205 and attach the transponder chip to the key some way.

    Excellent. Thanks for the info.

I started the '6 and pulled the ECU out when it was running, so essentially this should have done the trick.

I dont think I would bother with the ignition barrel swap unless I had to or it was easier.

Is that something you would suggest? I have no idea how much loom to chase back if it was the best way to do it.
