Well just to let you guys know... I think my ceramic cat i got welded into my downpipe is already dead... I will inspect it tomorrow afternoon and see if it has let go already. It wasn't extremely expensive 100€ but it did not last 2 weeks on my LB 6 if it really combusted.
Can any one of you guys assure me that a LB 6 will pass emissions test easily with the standard cat? As i can't really be bothered to go ahead and try to find a FRS Mk2 or RX8 one. Just want the bloody car to run as its supposed to...
I'll post up my findings tomorrow evening if it is already killed.

A bit of thread bumpage here but I am scoping a new cat (roadworthy and MOT-able 200 cell not 100 cell so slightly off topic) in case the welded up split at the rear of mine doesn't last. The guy that welded it said the metal was "very thin". I liked Kev's idea of a Magnaflow universal cat welded into a decat but at £100 for the cat + £100 for the decat pipe + labour incl tweaking to make it fit you are looking at the £245 for the direct fit Hoffman sports cat. Unless the standard downpipe can be reused, but it is 13 years old and might also be "very thin" so who knows. The Jetex at £253 doesn't look much more - until you realise that the price is plus VAT but is not stated as much until you go the the shopping cart. I'm sure there are rules against that. Knobs. As a UK taxpayer, what use is a price ex-VAT to me? Anyway, I digress.

The Hoffman and the Jetex use exactly the same photos (see links below). This could be explained either by:

(a) The Hoffman and Jetex are actually made by the same manufacturer, or:

(b ) Someone has pinched someone else's photos.

https://www.jetex.co.uk/jetex/store/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=11354

Does anyone know which, because if it is (a), the 20% saving would be very welcome. I don't know the Hoffman name but Jetex has a good reputation for quality from what I have seen. But a user has said they've had the Hoffman for 2 years and it seems to be good.

Anyone got any updates or info that would shed some light on this?
