Janspeed or Jetex, go direct and squeeze for a good discount. Compare prices with Tweeks and Merlin Motorsports first for a guide to how much to expect to pay.

Hmm. I'd have thought 200 cell ones should be easy to find.

The 200's are easy to find, it's the 100's which are a pain to find!

Will they still pass the MOT with a 100cell CAT?

My mates ST passes fine with a 100 cell cat! But the pug is a 12 year old car! Will there be a noticeable difference with a 200 cell cat?

Yes, it's twice as restrictive for the same surface area of cat.

Had a 200 cell on my old car and cut it a little fine on the emmisions so if you really want a 100 cell you may as well go de-cat and find a test center that will look the other way Whistle

Is the hoffman cat good quality? Are you using it with the standard exhaust system? and what diffrence to noise and performance has it made?

Thanks Scott

I have a 200 cell Jetex coupled to a S/S Jetex cat back and it passed it's last Mot.

I was looking at a 100 cell and the cheepest I could find was about £150 custom built at Longlife.

I have the hoffman with a mongoose Stainless steel system and a Foam Pipercross Induction set up. Sounds sweet. Bit on the loud side. When it was RR'd with a decat it was 176Bhp and I recon its probs the same with the Hoffman sports cat. Doesn't feel any different. Smile The cat has been on for 2 MOT's passed Both ok. Smile

I have tried 100 cell cat at the same time as a couple of forum member we were all shocked by how poor the build quality, sound and lack of performance increase compared to a standard cat.

Try blowing down a standard cat and do the same for a 100 cell cat ... there is no difference in air flow. There is more restriction in the inlet outlet pipe than the cat's honeycomb.

100 cell cats have a volume around 4 times smaller than a standard cat. 100 sports cats might give 1 bhp more but only due to the fact they weigh half the amount of a standard cat. You may find a standard cat is the right weight to dampen many of the vibrations from the engine. As for flow through I think there is nothing in it.

    what Neil said!

I think most in this thread have missed that point, they may be less cells per inch, but there's more inches LOL

Apologies for the massive bump, at least search works. Out of interest can anyone tell me which brand the incredibly shoddy 100cell cats came from? And anyone had luck running any kind of cat that doesn't combust on LBSC?

Im personally going to grab a cat off another single cat 250ish HP car
Say a focus RS mk 2 or a Rx8 230HP jobby (Added bonus of the RX8 one is that they run rich out of the box so you dont need to worry about the SC conversions rich running either)

And then get that welded in to the down pipe
No p**sing about and theres no reason why either would be restrictive.
    Pain free mot's too

    Yes please....

I'm sure it will be trial and error though
