Hi guys,

Bought my first GTI today. Had originally been after a slightly lowered car on the standard wheels but ended up buying said car below on 17" Vortexs. The wheels have 4 brand new avons so planning on getting a bit of use out of the tyres then resorting to the cyclones.

Basically until I change the wheels I want to get the car sitting level. At the minute it has 60mm PI springs and sits very nose heavy, I don't want to lower the rear anymore so could anyone suggest a 50mm or there abouts spring that would leave the arch just above the tyre?

THANKS

It's supposed to sit nose-down, and from that photo the pitch doesn't look excessive (although it does look too low in general!).

Do you have a side-on picture?

It is too low in general and a better side on pic would show that the front is quite abit lower than the rear, no side on pictures yet as I only bought it tonight. That picture was taken from the ad and doesn't really show how it sits properly.

imho, 40mm springs would balance the car out nicely Thumbs up

i even reckon by doing that, when you fit your refurbed cyclones, it will still sit well

Big grin

Its astor Stevie.

Anth I registered back then with a notion of buying one and got sidetracked somewhere along the way, only took 6 years lol. I actually forgot I was registered here and had another more recent account which I now must get deleted.

Thanks Jord, you don't happen to know any good 40mm springs? I always had eibach in my last cars and rated them, does anyone know what size they come in for the GTI?

I have 30mm drop eibachs on the front, looks spot on imo.

Rear does need lowering a little though on mine.

eibachs are highly rated for the 306, so i fitted some to my 6

25-30mm drop with eibachs Thumbs up

in fact, i would never lower a car more than 30mm

Searched a few old posts and found this pic of nev6's GTI, that's the sort of front height I'm after so dropped him a message to see what springs he used.

Got a chat to nev6 and those were apparently 50mm track day springs which are no longer listed.

Have decided on H&R 40mm but online I'm only finding them listed for '306 Cabrio/Kom./Break Sedan/Convert./SW', could anyone who bought H&R for a GTI point me where to order a set thanks.

Rang round a few local shops today but no one can get the H&R anymore, what other springs are still available at 40/45/50mm? Everything seems to be 30 or 60, something in between would be perfect!
