Just ordered the pads and discs from BPB for £38, need the hoses from Swampy and will have a look at the calipers when I take the lot over to Hovis. My plan is to watch and learn and end up doing as much DIY as possible! Once the Smart's sold I'll have the garage for workspace as a bonus.
Lotek, Hovis and I work together - he's offered me the calipers if I need them, cheers.

They are good lads Hovis n Lotek, glad you are going to have a crack at it yourself, nothing beats knowing a jobs been done right and you saved yourself a hefty slice of wedge into the bargain Smug

hovis and lotek are notorious scammers, do not deal with them, check your car thoroughly. i heard that they had a set of old knackered tiny calipers they were trying to shift and were looking for another victim's car to swap them onto

they sold me a broken cd player and tv too

Fortunately I know where Hovis lives! I've got his axle stands though as the car's still on them... I scrubbed up the sliders, retaing and anti-rattle springs. The sliders are a tad rust pitted - do they need to be uber smooth?

Nope, not in the slightest. They've got all the force from your foot pushing the pads in, as long as they're not silly rusty they'll be fine.

Although it's taken a while longer (due to bleed the brakes tomorrow evening with Hovis) to get it done it's saved a fair wedge with the advice and help from users of this forum.

Yup, it's good like that. Easily saved me thousands so far, I couldn't have built my car if this forum were like the Hyundai one I was on before.

We rule! Thumbs up
