I've just had a quote for replacement of rear discs and pads, near and offside rear hoses, and the nearside rear caliper (if necessary - possibly seized), and fluid flush. (it's a 306Hdi)

£45 for the flush
£96 for the rear pads
£125 for the rear discs
£80 for each hose
£154 for the caliper if needed.

Is this a reasonable quote or should I look elsewhere?

Rear pads standerd spec around £25 the set
rear disks around £25 each for decent quality ones.

f*ck my old boots, that's disgusting.

I hope they kiss you before they bend you over!

For info you should name/shame this place, maybe we could continually call them and ask for quotes.

That is waaaaaaaaaay overpriced

Cheers for the replies - I also realised mine's not a gti6 so thanks for the replies anyhow!
Halfords Autocentre - first place I went as I'd already had to drive 2hrs down the M4... I knew they'd be top retail prices but knew it was worth a check on here first. SteviePut, where abouts down south are you?

Thosed prices are just obscene. I can recommend the Mintex box set (ie rear discs and pads) which can be had for less than £45 delivered.

Very steep, And knowing most service stuff at Halfords is cheap the mark up on that is as bad as the 'Kays or Littlewoods'
Flush whats that all about.
I'm impressed they knew about the callipers thou as the bleed nipples which often snap off meaning a new calliper so bear that in mind.

But as said all that should come in around £150.00,

Disc's £30.00
Pads £21.00
Hose's £16.00
Dot 4 Brake Fluid 1L £5.00
S/H Calliper £25.00
Labour £45.00 (Hour ish)
Total £142.00 (Close to est)

Fluid flush is just the way they've presented a change of brake fluid to him Miles.

You could get that lot done at a smaller garage much cheaper, or better yet learn to DIY and do at least the pads and discs yourself and get a garage or a skilled friend to do the hydraulics.

Biggest stumbling block will likely be siezed rear bleed nipples. These will cause you grief if you snap one off so investigate local availability of rear calipers before you start the job.

Just ordered the pads and discs from BPB for £38, need the hoses from Swampy and will have a look at the calipers when I take the lot over to Hovis. My plan is to watch and learn and end up doing as much DIY as possible! Once the Smart's sold I'll have the garage for workspace as a bonus.
Lotek, Hovis and I work together - he's offered me the calipers if I need them, cheers.
