Hi all, I'm
Intending on fitting kad top mounts but have noticed I can't use my strut brace due to the new 4th bolt being in the way!
Does any one know of any make of strut brace that can incorporate the new inboard 4th bolt?

Just drill and tap a new hole somewhere else mate, as long as you have the three/four bolts in rough equal spacing you won't encounter any issues.

Won't be able to do that with my strut brace I can get the top bolt in the brace, the out board bolt does not go threw the brace and the bottom one I can use and that goes threw the brace. The strut brace mounting plate is half moon shape and does not have much land on to drill other holes near where it should be,
I wanted to know of other makes that allow all 4 bolts, not sure if the e-reck ones do?

OMP use fully circular mounting plates on their braces, giving you plenty of options for alternative bolt location chap.

Are omp ones adjustable? Never really liked the omp ones tho!

Yes, plus they are simple, and strong, not like the nancy E-Tech ally ones. Plus bieng steel they are easy to modify if you need to.

Interesting thing to say, but let's move on.

Ollie - I have an OMP one - it's solid, easily adjustable and feels very good quality. As has been pointed out it has full rings at either end so you've got a lot more room if you need to modify it.

Can you put a bolt on the inboard side under the brace so you have one every quarter.

What I mean is when you have the strut brace in place can you put a bolt at the 3 o'clock position on the drivers side and 9 o'clock on the pass side or does the brace it's self get in the way of doing so? Don't want to buy one and find out I can't have bolts at 12,3,6 and 9 o'clock position!

Are you talking about standard top mounts or have the compbrake 306 solid top mounts only have the 3 bolt holes, I thought you would have had to drill a forth?

pugheaven.. i reiterate there is no point and yes i got rid of my omp one because i couldnt get the inbound bolt on..

the best one to get is the E-tech one as it allows thisYes

Oh well freshly powdercoated silver custom strut brace up for sale soon then which is a shame as i liked it as it follows the line of the bulk head!

FFS You don't even need a forth bolt, most mounts make do with three. There is bugger all side load on a topmount and the weight of the car holds it in position too. You don't need to worry about having a bolt at every quarter either. But if you feel it really needs if needs that extra bolt and you cant get at it, drill a hole in the upper part of the bracket on the brace so you can get an allen key on a capscrew underneath. Not rocket science. And I felt a noticable increase in steering feel with the addition of my brace but everyone is entitled to an opinion (Even if it's wrong Wink )

Tbh, I haven't seen one yet that was all that impressive that I'd buy one, they make the most difference if they're very torsionally stiff around the strut top area as that is what makes the most difference to the harmonics and twist over rough roads/deflections with uprated suspension - provided you can get a bit of preload on there.
A good example is the alloy ones on the latest Astons, wide bar and stiff at the mountings, just a pity about the bend in it...
The one77 has a lovely example but no struts LOL

The actual effect on the camber angle from chassis deflection is fairly low - we're talking maybe tenth of a degree, the bottom brace is orders of magnitude more effective at that simply because of the leverage difference and the rack being mounted down low - as it affects the tracking too, which you feel much more than any camber change, the upper does have some effect here too though - if you've got a good one.

I know u don't have you have all four as the standard ones only use 3 I just wanted to fit all four bolts so it looked better, not sure what I'm goin to do but I won't be fitting a e-reck brace!
If I could get a pick up of the brace u might understand and ur right it's not rocket science but you still can't do what you are saying!
Looks like I'll be making my own brace to incorporate all 4 bolts!

I only ask a few questions on this site, and personally I don't think they are stupid things to ask about, a few members are very helpful others are clearly just commenting to waste their time which does not help at all.
It's my choice what I do or don't do and I would like to think I am mechanically minded so don't need stupid comments that don't help at all!
I am aware I don't need a strut brace, I am aware I don't need all 4 bolts but what I am not aware of is a strut brace that will take all 4 bolts as that is what I want and that is what this thread is about!
