I've been using ds2500 pads on both my 6's for ages and only cooked them on trackdays once. Since then I fitted some ducting from where the foglights were to the calipers and haven't been able to cook them since. Still locked up my R888's with ease after 25 mins at cadwell. Carbon lorraines do look good but I think the ds2500's are plenty good enough if you can keep them cool. Smile

Carbon Lorraines are great, but will completely destroy your paintwork by throwing all their dust down the side of the car.

What you *really* want to do is buy my non-squealing Brembo/Tarox/Yellowstuff setup Whistle

Looking really good mate, would love to have the patience to build a cage like that LOL

The current pads will have to do for atleast Bedford a week today. Some ducting from the bumper wouldn't be a bad idea, something we can look into at a later date.

Engine is now built back up, should put it back in this afternoon then spend tomorrow tidying up the wiring and other bits.

I think it's a bit of a trade off with carbon lorraines, yes they can damage ur wheels and paintwork with the dust but I've found if u clean the car the day after a trackday generally the paint doesn't mark, I have had to break out the clay bar once or twice but I think it's a small price to pay for the braking performance they give on track, once u've used them in my opinion u won't use ferodos again on track. No offence to those using ferodos but the difference is quite a lot IMO and for a track pad I don't think u'll find better for standard callipers and the money. Just my 2p's worth! Thumbs up

Oh no I completely agree, they're the best you can get for the standard calipers. However for the sake of having to constantly clay your car, cleaning your wheels every trackday, getting through a set of pads every ten minutes and the pretty high cost of the CLs, you should really just upgrade to better calipers.

If you're in if for that level of win you're only ever trying to polish one-pot turds, and we all know that doesn't work No

No need for cooling once you've got a better setup either.

I suppose I'm quite lucky, my track wheels are gunmetal grey and never get cleaned, it's only the road wheels I need to clean and this is no real issue to me as I have no garage so give the car quick wash the day after a trackday before putting the car cover back on. The cost thing, whilst I see ur point on uprated calipers I can't really afford a new set up and have found if u buy the cl's for a Clio 172 they fit and are bout £50 cheaper than the specific pads for a 6 which makes them about the same price as a ferodo setup. I'm not disagreeing with u just putting a different slant on things from a budget point of view! Thumbs up

Well first trackday done since putting it back together.

The day went well, only issue being the quick shift falling apart on several occasions, eventually fixed with cable ties, insulation tape and a jubilee clip lol

The yellow stuffs that were in there lasted the whole day, brake pad warning light came on literally on the last cool down lap of the day! Slicks were immense, made a lot of difference and wear was hardly noticeable do can't moan at that for £200.

Managed to keep up with plenty of cars, db7 probably being the most enjoyable.

All in all a great day out, need to get my 309 done now!
