On a car which already has basically no weight over the back, doesn't stripping out the rear just make this worse? I thought even weight distribution is an important factor of handling? Does anyone find the back a bit skittish after some strippage?Don't really know what i'm talking about, just thinking aloud! |

It's a bit hairy if you run standard suspension, but lowering the car, coilovers and thicker anti-roll bars completely solve any issue. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

I stripped mine for the nordschleife and thought it was pretty good.Suspension wise mine is all standard but i put R888's on for track work these days. The back end does like to come out from time to time but thats never been an issue for me. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

It's 1.2 tonnes of steel with a wheel on each corner, you can take what you want out of the back and provided you don't f*ck up the suspension you will still have plenty of weight bearing down on the rear wheels for great traction. Bear in mind the trailing arms, torsion bars, beam tube, ARB, dampers, fuel tank, most of the exhaust system, driver and passenger, even the tailgate add weight in the centre to rearward portion of the car. Ditching some seats, a bit of carpet and trim is'nt going to upset the balance by much of a margin at all. It will make you feel like Tommi Makkinen though, so I say go for it. If it eases your mind, relocate the battery to the boot, looks racy and means you don't get collared to do runs to the tip with household waste! ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I'm not particularly inclined to strip yet - my 306 runs on the wrong fuel you see (should keep that on the down low around these parts though ) . But it's just something that i've wondered for a while. When I get a 6/rallye though... |

Not to dig at you specifically but it just annoys me on forums when people who obviously have a decent knowledge of a topic post smug little 'i know more than you comments' which don't help anyone. Spread the knowledge, it's what it's all about! |

If it wasn't important , Rally teams won't bother to move backwards the engine in their cars, cutting firewalls & so.the 306 is about 63% front. ________________________________________ French military victories?Did you mean French military defeats? |

That's more for rotational inertia and the CoG than the outright weight distribution.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. My cars weight distribution after stripping out the interior, still has the dampening on the firewall, the instrument panel and the original front seats:Weights with a full tank of petrol and 100kg of ballast (me, in the drivers seat) Total: 1220 Front: 820 Rear: 380 Left side: 620 Right side 580 Distribution front/rear 68/32 Distribution left/right 52/48 People picky with numbers will note that the total weight differs from the front/rear or left/right combined. This is due to the scales used that only has a precision of 20kg. ________________________________________ Peugeot 306 GTI -97 Stripped out trackday toyPeugeot 307 SW Griffe -05 Peugeot 206 1,6 Griffe -04 |

How is that ? the spinning balancing shafts in the 205T16 cause Ari Vatanen accident and it located in the center of the car. ________________________________________ French military victories?Did you mean French military defeats? |
