Thats the main problem ill have, i dont know anywhere that will remap the standard ecu over here in ireland, anyone ive asked doesnt do them what other mods have you? i just have a k&n and a decat ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

Carbon enclosed induction kit, stainless 90degree induction piping, polished throttle body, PTFE inlet gasket, Powerflow decat and Magnex 2.5" cat-back.Standard exhaust cam is absolutely fine with the stage I inlet, even with a stage II you might only need a slight regrind on the exhaust cam but you're talking more lift there, which going full circle is the main issue with cams.. clearance. Standard pulleys are fine, they're adjustable as they are and as it's a regrind of the original cam the timing values should stay the same, if not very similar I'm going to have to drive to Rochdale from Glasgow to remap it but from what i've heard it'll be worth the journey ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

ahh very good, id say i might go for this option then fairly soon do you have an email address or a link to the site for where your getting your cam done please? because its mild would it run ok without a remap? i know i wouldnt have the full potential without it but i just dont know what to do about the remap, unless i go to the extreme and take a road trip to the uk ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

@ cwspellowe, your just getting the inlet regrind is it? is there any particular reason your not getting the exhaust like would the clearance be different on the exhaust side or anything? its just that i mailed Peter and he said he has a set of stage 1's that he could send to me for about $450 altogether but unfortunatly i havnt got the money just yet but i told him i would be hoping to have it in the next month or so and asked would just the inlet do and he said yes it would but it wouldnt have as much power on top end as both would have together so i might get both but just wonder if there would be a clearance issue on the exhaust side or would both be the same ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

Best person to ask is Peter himself, I just read his website and it said a stage I inlet could be done alone with no drama, not sure about the exhaust cam too. I suspect if it's just the duration again being altered it should run as long as the durations don't overlap? ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

If anyone is going for a PeterT regrind or the like, I have a set of XU10J4R cams for sale (Peter recommended me getting them to regrind, rather than the J4RS)________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

roland what would be the rough gains with these cams? and do they need any other work or a remap? oh and would they be ok clearance wise without piston work even if the head has had a light skim?________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

Isn't there a chap on here (crf450 or summit [Martin?]) who can do pocketed pistons for £100 approx? - If it were me, I would get a set of them, wouldn't risk a buggering after spending all this money?(remember, the remap will be circa £400 plus a tank of fuel too) Dave ________________________________________ Team: Moonstone GTI-6™Team: ian7675 wrote: Remember....a 6 isn't just a car, it's a part time job |

monkgti wrote: so thats a no if the head has been skimmed? indeed, regardless of how much, you can't skim these too much anyway due to the proximity of the valve seats to the face of the head. but as mentioned, you can have the pistons machined for extra clearance, that's what I have in my engine and will be trying PH2's. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

ok , best stay away then! its the ph 1 newmans that would suit is it? see ive just had the head rebuilt last year and dont really want to go taking it off again plus havnt really got the cash to spend now thats why i was looking for some cams that would suit the standard pistons and mabey without a remap as this place is a disaster, i cant find anyone who can remap the standard ecu bar superchips, but they just do a base map has anyone heard if cwspellowe got the peter taylor cams after as i havnt heard back from him at all?? ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

I wouldn't bother tbh till you can afford to do it properly, get some decent suspension on there first, lighter wheels, THEN more power ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

welshpug & smegal, i know exactly where your coming from and your dead right about it not being worth it unless doing the pistons and getting higher cams, but im just not sure when ill have the funds afford the supercharged 6 so wanted to get these cams as they didnt need any other work and should give a small gain in power, ive recently done discs, brakes and new clutch and Rich W flywheel which made a nice difference so id be happy with another small improvment for now if you get me ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |
